My dream town would be a medium city sized town by the sea. I'm not sure that really exists in the UK though, so somewhere within a short drive to the sea will have to do!

not at all! but i've been trying to make the best of it. it is not a place i would choose to live but does have some positives.

Yes and no. I live in our dream town buttt we're just out of the dream school district! Our school district is still really good but not the top in the area. But the dream house won over dream district when our kids won't be in those high schools for another 14 years!

I like where I live, I'm just not super thrilled to be living there. Haha!

Not our dream town, but hands down our dream neighborhood. My husband made the comment last night that we will probably never find a neighborhood like this ever again!

I live in a place that meets all of our needs and many of our wants. Once the kids move out, my husband and I will move to our actual dream town, but where we are now is our realistic dream town for raising a family.

We (finally) love where we live! Not sure how long we will be here, but we hope for a long time!!

@LovelyPlum: really?!
haha it's true. Once you've lived here you always come back!

@regberadaisy: once I graduate, we will go where the jobs are. But, that is at least 4-5 years away, and if we can swing staying here, we will! We love it

I voted that I live in my dream town based on realistic terms.
I have to find a new dream town, it was New Orleans but after Hurricane Katrina it will only be a great place to visit
Someone find me a new dream town!
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@LovelyPlum: so many people come here for school, leave. Then come back to raise a family!

I love my town! I think it's the perfect little place to raise a LO. But I'm not that happy with the cold and gloomy winters, but it's that way all throughout the country (we're in the north). If we won the lottery, I can't think of anywhere else. We would stay right here, just vacation for the whole of winter!

I really, really like where we live - even down to our neighborhood, but I wish we had more money to travel.
We are in the mid-west, so it takes time and money to drive or fly anywhere.

I live in my dream school district but not in the nicest part of the school district. It's the district my dad went to and I went to from 5th grade on. My parents still live here too.

Portland, Oregon baby. This town is my dream come true. I grew up in a medium sized city a few hours south, and I've always wanted to live here. A few years ago my husband got a job offer here, and I convinced him to move. And we love it.
I just saw an amazing concert last night (my fourth in recent months) and was totally overcome by how lucky I am to live in such an amazing place with such culture and so many amazing things to do and experience. I just adore it here. I'd be happy to stay here the rest of my life.
And yeah, it's just like Portlandia.

yep
doubtful that we'll ever afford our dream house here, but dream town for sure. love it here.
GOLD / pomelo / 5737 posts
Sure, but we live in the cheapest (ok not cheapest but not a very nice, needs lots of updating) apartment in that town!
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
Yes ma'am!!! If I won a million dollars I'd just buy a bigger nicer house on the water in my very same town. It would take a team of horses to drag me away from my little town.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Nope. I really don't like it here. We want to move in a year , but that will depend on DH's job.
nectarine / 2217 posts
haha yeah i think vancouver and area is about as dreamy as it gets, but man i wonder when we'll ever afford to buy a place here! i voted for the last option!

I like where we live for right now, but our dream town priorities will change in a few years. Right now we don't care about having a house with a backyard and good schools, but in a few years, yeah, we will. So, where we live now is our realistic dream area, but not our long term dream town.

Id say yes. I absolutely love where I live. But I wish it was a little more walk-able. I would love it if I could just put LO in the stroller and walk to a cafe or shop or something. You need a car to get anywhere around here.

I love aspects of where we live - it's right on the ocean, small community, family lives here, we both have good jobs...I just wish there was a little more to do sometimes!

In our dream town but not forever home! We bought the first two bedroom condo to go on the market in YEARS!!

I'm int ultimate dream town, but if I won the lottery I'd be on the beach! (In same city.)

We moved here because it was my dream, so yes! For now, that is. NYC is totally not sustainable longer term (if we want to put kids through college, own a home, etc.) so we'll probably end up moving to dream town No. 2 back in Texas eventually.

I love the town where we live but we need to be in a much nicer neighborhood. Our neighborhood is W.T. We need to get out of it. But the town is perfect - it's a 30-minute train ride from Center City Philly (where we both work), and everything we need (groceries, mall, Target, BRU, etc) is less than 20 minutes away.
If I had all the money in the world and could live anywhere, though, you'd find me somewhere near Charleston, SC.

I voted "ultimate dream town" because that's exactly what it is - where we would live if we had millions of dollars! however, in reality, we do not, so we'll be moving in the not so distant future. If i could afford to raise a family here (including paying for school), I'd do it in a heartbeat! but we don't play the lottery very often, so i'll be moving to the burbs

@Honeybee: I'm curious to your actual dream town? We'd love to retire to Montana and split our time between there and Hawaii
pomelo / 5178 posts
@Mrs. Jacks: Retire to your parents' property? We wouldn't be far away! We plan on buying property outside of Helena in the next 5-10 years!

Definitely not... grew up in San Diego and live in Kansas City, so KC now seems like torture. I sure hope to end up in a beach town again one day...
clementine / 780 posts
Nope ..some day! Its nice being near the ocean but i dont like the vibes in our current spot. Id prefere a sprawling ranch with lots of large animals, starry nights with no light pollution, clean air and mountains.
nectarine / 2936 posts
I live in a pretty good place, but there are definitely things I would change. If I had a million dollars and could pick anywhere on the map, this probably wouldn't be it. BUT, my family is here, and I don't think anywhere would be my dream place without my fam.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@Honeybee: there or somewhere near there :). I could see being up in kallispell or somewhere like that
