Just curious how people feel about their current home. Do you think you will/could live there forever (I suppose those are different questions)? What would you need/want to change about it?
DH and I bought our home just about 1.5 years ago. We gutted it almost completely (property brothers style). It was a great deal for the neighborhood/sq footage and we have a lot of earned equity now thanks to our investment. Unfortunately it lacks two things we really wanted 1) large chefs kitchen 2) 3 car garage. Plus - at the end of our reno there were some surprises so we had to trim the budget a bit and cut a few corners we'd probably want to go back and do "right" (i.e. builder grade instead of custom finishes).
Curious - how long will you stay in your home? What will impact that?
! We will have enough space for 2-3 kids easily, and we are pinching pennies so we can get exactly what we want now (chef's gourmet kitchen, and hardwoods throughout means no eating out and no purse buying for a while!) DH has asked me to promise we will stay for at least 8 years, but I've never lived in one place for more than 3! I'll aim for 4-5 years of staying put, but who knows, we could totally live happily in the house for a long while!
