Neither! Our neighbourhood is really quiet. Sometimes TOO quiet!

Neither! We have a police station a few blocks down. But I like it. Makes me feel secure. haha

Nope although at our old house every now and then you can just barely hear the train's whistle.

My condo was right next to a fire station but now our house is 2 blocks away....we don't ever really hear the trucks though!

We live close to a fire station, but it must not get much action, because I don't hear many sirens.
Before we moved into this house our apartment was less then a block from the train tracks. After a little while I didn't even hear the trains going by.

neither. The ambulance station isn't too far, but we don't hear that often. We are pretty close to an open active quarry and 2-3 times a year a quarry blast will shake the whole neighbourhood. It's pretty crazy.

We used to live in the "downtown" area and lived near both. We got so used to the city sounds! When we moved to the "suburbs", it was so eerily quiet!!

We live near train tracks, not for commuting but it goes through here several times a day and it's pretty loud.

We live near train tracks but not close enough that I can hear it from my house.

I can hear a train passing right now! We are not near a fire station, though.

We live within feet of the light rail....but it's electric, so it really isn't loud. I can hear it whizzing past sometimes, but it doesn't bother me at all.
There's a fire station maybe...4 blocks from here? But I've never heard it at all.

The train tracks run right behind the house! Fire & Police stations are about 5 minutes driving distance away.

There's an Amtrak station literally right across the street and tracks behind our complex. I could throw a rock on them from our deck. Surprisingly I only rarely hear the trains. There's a fire station <1/2 mile away.

Fire station is close, but not close enough that we hear it. We do have train tracks close but I'm a heavy sleeper so it doesn't bother me.

nope. ils first house up north has a train track in their back yard!

I live near train tracks but there are hardly any trains on it - maybe one a day. I want to figure out the schedule so we can walk down the road where we can see the tracks and watch it go by someday with M.

Train tracks are about a mile and a half away, and I almost never hear anything. They are building a new fire station about a mile from my house in the other direction, but I don't anticipate a lot of noise. I hear more from the HS 2 miles away when they have band practice lol!!

Not train tracks, but it seems like we don't go a single morning or evening without being serenaded by multiple police and ambulance sirens!
