I have been apathetic for years. I'm trying to get more into the spirit so the kids don't have a dad for a grinch.
Do you love or hate the holidays?

LOVE them! Ariela will love them too, I've already started training her and she's only 4 weeks old!

I've always been pretty eh as well about them since my family didn't do much for the holidays. I am more into it now for DD, though. I do want her and baby sis to have some holiday traditions.

Love love LOVE! Growing up the holiday's were extremely chaotic, someone always got in a fight for one reason or another. I've started hosting Thanksgiving and making Christmas a short affair with my family. This year my side of the family kept saying how organized and calm/collected I was...YES because you nut cases made me hate the holiday's my whole life so here I am changing things for my family

@babyjmama: Never too young, right? She has Christmas lights around her change table and I read her The Night Before Christmas every night. She loves it, I can tell

I LOVE the holiday season. I just wish it wouldn't be so stressful. We both have divorced families so we celebrate 6 times. We are trying to combine a couple and host a couple so it isn't so much traveling, but it can be really exhausting. There have been issues with MIL over Christmas in the past, but we decided a few years ago not to get involved in the drama.

Love.
Dh is a grinch though. We have a neighbor who decorates his house like crazy for Christmas and every time we drive by he says it looks like Santa threw up on it.

LOVE! I thought about Christmas on my drive into work and was so giddy when I got here!
I went through a lull for a few years, but now that we're expecting, it seems to bring the charm back.

I love the holidays, but not necessarily all the hype about presents. I feel like as the years have passed Christmas has changed for us. It's no longer about quality family time, but rather how quick we can eat, open gifts, have dessert and off to the next party. I guess that's what happens when you have a reconstructed family. You have to split yourself 10 ways.
I also feel like gifts aren't gifts anymore. You basically ask what you want and you get it. No element of surprise, no handmade gifts... etc.
Plus, I feel like the kids are beyond spoiled. and they don't appreciate it. And then comes the financial stress... Honestly, if we only gave 1 gift to the kids for christmas, made the tree and actually drove around town looking at all the lights on the houses, would make a wonderful magical christmas.

I love them but I have had to tone that down a bit with my husband. His family never really did much for holidays. Christmas was a few decorations and a present or two. In our house, the entire house was decorated, we went to tree lightings, went to DC to see the 50 state Christmas tress, Christmas Eve mass, cookies for Santa, etc.
I remember our first dating Christmas when he came over and saw all of our presents. I think he felt embarrassed by it all! He has gotten more into it as I have toned it down a bit so we're working on our traditions now. He lets me throw Christmas up all over the house and we tone down the gift side of the holiday. We still struggle over family time for the holidays and that will always make it tough.
So, I like the holidays while I used to love them.

Love it since my family has always made a big deal out of it. I love the hustle and bustle of it, minus the Christmas shopping at the mall part. Thank goodness for online shopping and pre-Christmas shopping!

I love the holidays! I love the family get-togethers, the food, the festive feeling and the atmosphere of charity and goodwill.
