We bought a mattress for ours. E is a really bad sleeper when he's not in his crib so we wanted to make it as comfortable as possible. It doesn't fold or anything so traveling with it is a bit tricky--but we usually drive, so not a big problem for us. I think they sell ones that fold up, though.

I think you can get some decent PnP mattress pads from amazon.

I think some other bees have used pnp mattresses.
I just added extra layers of sheets (not blankets) to help make it more comfy.

No, we just used the regular mattress. Both of my LOs slept on it for the first 4.5 & 3 months of their life.

My LO sleep:s on one each night and I just use the provided mattress.
