Creepy question I know! We've attended a few funerals recently so this came to mind. My parents bought burial plots in my hometown when they were in their 40s but eventually decided to sell them because they lost their attachment to that place over time. I would love to be buried in my hometown near my family but I will probably be buried in my DH's hometown! When we first moved here I told my husband no way was I going to rest eternally here! But over time I have come to accept it.

@cmomma17: I think that is a great idea! I'd like to go the green burial route but it would be hard to do that if it meant not being buried near DH. Choices, choice! Lol!

no, i'm very against having my body buried. i want to be cremated, bonus points if they'll make me into a firework, i love fireworks and think it would be the perfect send off (this is a real thing, i'm not suggesting they attach my dead body to explosives, they add the cremated remains to the powder within a firework)

We have talked about it and I'm not sure. It's hard because all his family that have passed are buried at the same cemetery locally. But my dad is buried North of the city and I know that's where all my family will be. The Feng shui of my dad's final resting spot is beautiful. It's in the hills with open air on all sides.
DH family is buried in a congested city lot. Not where I want my final resting place to be.DH & I definitely want to be buried together.
Cremation is not for me. I read that they don't clean it out after every cremation so it might not all be you!
And cremating is frowned upon in my culture.It's morbid but a fact of life and one less stress on your loved ones.

My mil spent part of her childhood in Hawaii and wants a Hawaiian ceremony with her ashes. It is written in her will that DH and I get to go to Hawaii to do this if FIL has already passed. It is very meaningful and important to her that her ashes are spread in the water there. We tease her all the time that she needs to die so we can have a honeymoon.
My FIL is a very simple man. He wants to be cremated as well, but nothing special done with his ashes. We asked if he was sure and he said "well it won't really matter at that point will it?" Can't disagree with him! -
Ils have four burial plots in two locations in their hometown. If we don't buy we will likely take two. Weird to type this out

Well, considering my family owns a cemetery and funeral home...yes! But, we decided half of our ashes would be buried and half scattered.

DH and his family own plots so I now have a resting place! Before this I was just gonna get cremated.

@locavore_mama: I thought cremation was standard for most Chinese? I don't know much about it though. I just know all my grandparents were cremated.
I think I would like to be cremated. I want my ashes scattered somewhere though and not sitting in someone's home or in a cemetery. DH refuses to talk about it so I don't know what he wants!

My mom is very against the body being mutilated in any way post death. She wouldn't even let the coroner perform an autopsy after his death because of her traditional Chinese beliefs. She didn't want him to be un whole in the after life.

Nope, I'm going with cremation here, too...after everything possible is donated.
