I do!
Sometimes I worry that there might be an emergency and I should keep my phone on vibrate just in case.. But eh. sleep is precious.

I do! Otherwise it would buzz all night with darn FB notifications that refuse to turn off no matter how many times I uncheck the box! Thanks, Droid.

I put mine on vibrate because if I am in deep sleep, i'll sleep right through it.
But, if it is morning and I'm just laying there in/out of light sleep then i'll hear it. Mornings are usually when I get "emergency" phone-calls like....my sister needs a ride to work ....or DH forgot his lunch and is asking me to drop it off....things like that. Everyone calls me because I am a SAHW and they assume i've got time haha:)

I always have my phone on vibrate. I'm a heavy sleeper though...

Nope. I would never want to miss an emergency middle of the night call.

My phones always on vibrate. If I don't here it and there's an emergency, they'll call dh.

@artbee: My husband ALWAYS has his phone on silent at night so if I don't have my phone on we're in trouble! When we lived apart it was a HUGE pet peeve of mine. Sometimes I think that man values sleep above anything else in the world!
@Mrs. Jacks: So how does it work if you are on call? Do doctors still use pagers?
pomelo / 5321 posts
Nope, my volume is pretty much always turned up. When DH was deployed, there was no telling what time he would call me. Now, I just keep it on in case family needs to get in touch with us. We're across the country and the time difference sucks sometimes.

@MamaMoose: Doctors still use pagers! BUT, when I'm on call, I'm already in the hospital (our call is what is termed "in house" call)... so I never need my phone for a doctor thing, which is kind of nice

I always keep my phone on vibrate; otherwise, my phone's constantly going off b/c of stupid notifications that never seem to completely turn off.

Nope. I am too worried about emergencies. We don't have a house phone just cells

Yes, my phone is on silent when I go to bed. I am totally not a morning person and I get really pissed when I get woken up early by a text or random call. If I have to have an alarm my phone has a setting where all sound is off except for the alarm (thank God).

@MamaMoose: My DH values his phone over anything, so I don't have to worry

I have it on vibrate so if it's a real emergency and someone calls several times I would wake up but I don't wake to texts or emails.

I turn it on silent.
If DH is not home I don't have it on silent though. Or if I'm expecting something... like when my sister was pregnant, I left it on in case she went into labor.

Mine is on silent. LO is still is my room with me so I don't want her to be disturbed.

its usually always (day and nite) on silent with the baby, ive had it off silence and it always rings when he is sleeping and he starts screaming in his sleep and then i have to battle to get him to sleep again.
pomegranate / 3983 posts
Nope, but I keep all my notifications off anyway, and I wouldn't expect anyone I know to call at night, so it doesn't seem to matter.

My phone is usually turned up pretty loud. My husband's phone is ALWAYS, always, always turned up. So is his back up phone. He works on call and frequently gets called in the middle of the night. Missed call = losing job. It didn't take long for me to get used to hearing it ring, waking up the husband, then going right back to sleep.
Example: apparently at 1:30 this morning he got called to work and I woke him up and even had a conversation with him. When I woke up for real (around 8) he was gone and I had no clue where he was or when he left.

My phone rings and vibrates and it's always on during the night. I've actually been called in the night for emergencies before so I'm always paranoid.

I don't have any kids so, no, I don't put my phone on silent. The only reason I put my phone on silent is for work. My phone is on vibrate (except for alarms) Monday to Friday.
honeydew / 7968 posts
i don't keep my phone near me. i usually don't know where exactly it is haha since i never really use it. when i need it for alarm, i will turn on vibrate cuz right now, i'm sleeping with the kids.

I leave my on loud on my nightstand! No one calls late at night, unless it was an emergency. I sleep through the text/email/FB noises! So does my DH.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
I put my phone on phone calls only, so I don't get alerts for emails/texts/other notifications, but it will ring if someone calls. I am way too paranoid about missing a call in the event of an emergency to leave it on silent.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@chopsuey119: I don't and that's exactly why.
I'm too paranoid with my family far away that I would miss an important phone call. Lost too many family members overnight....
