I'm into reading kids books by holding the physical book and turning the pages. I don't like the idea of reading from tablets to kids at bedtime. How do you feel about it?

I wouldn't like using an actual tablet - I don't think it's great for kids to be staring at those things too much, so I'd prefer a real book just to avoid that. But I could see using an eReader (IF they make colored eReaders, which I don't think they do), although I'd probably still prefer a book just for the feel of it! But I like real books for myself, so that's just my preference!

It wouldn't work at my house because my son knows there are better things on there, like You Tube videos.
I don't know, I can see both sides. If that is what it takes to get a child read to, then I support it. If a kid wants to read comic books as his bed time book, I am all for that as well, so I am trying to be open to the format.

Nope, we read the physical book. If we broke out the tablet she'd want to look at pictures or watch Caillou. The tablet is taken out only in case of toddler tantrum emergency

E won't let me. He swipes at the tablet and changes the pages. He really likes turning the pages of a real book and I'd rather he learn to appreciate a real book as well.

I think I'd be inclined to use an e reader but not a tablet as much just because the light supposedly disrupts sleep. And since e readers aren't really colorful I guess it would have to be a point in time that they will be willing to listen to a book without pictures.

I love real books! I love watching her beautiful soft chubby fingers touch/turn the pages and open the flaps.

We almost always read real books except we have the apps for a couple Sandra Boynton books. Her "Moo Baa La La La" app is awesome. Actually all her apps are awesome. They are interactive and so much fun. My LO is 3m and smiles so much when all the animals make their sounds. Other than those books, we read the "hard copies".

No, I'm all about holding an actual book and turning the pages. Reading on a tablet just doesn't do it for me.

Studies show that ebooks are a poor substitute for real books for young children. Our 3.5 does have a few ebooks we read on the tablet during the daytime, but we don't let her have screen time so close to bed.
