I'm reading 99% of my books these days through a Kindle app on my iPhone. I will only buy a paper book if I desperately need it and if it's not available at all in electronic form. Oh, or if it's a children's book!
Do you read mostly on a Kindle/ebook reader, or do you read paper books?

Ipad, kindle, iphone....I actually thought recently that I'll probably never buy a paper book again? They take up so much room! I got a "real" book at my shower a couple of weeks ago and it's nice to have, but I like to declutter the books if it's an option.
I have a dusty "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" that is huge and I came across it in my closet this weekend, and I'm like "What am I going to do with this??? Lug it to our next house? Give it away?" Sigh. Paper is obsolete!

I read almost exclusively on my Kobo, unless I borrow a paper book from a friend.
A good friend has a whole wall of books in her house, and it looks really nice.. but I think it`s a lot easier to just have them all on my Kobo!

I only read paper books. I don't ever want to switch. I love books! I love browsing the shelves at the bookstore. I love the smell of the pages. I love discovering handwritten notes to the original owner inside the pages. E readers aren't the same to me.

I love wasting time in a bookstore. I love curling up with a good book, especially when it's dark and chilly outside. So cozy.

Another paper book fan here. I adore books, bookstores, libraries...I know logically that e-readers are the wave of the future, and they are positive in a lot of ways, but part of me wishes they were never invented. They are literally changing the way people understand information (something I studied a little in grad school and find both fascinating and terrifying!).
We got a Kindle as a wedding gift, and while I envisioned my husband and I fighting over it, he's the only one who uses it. I tried to get into a book via the Kindle, but just couldn't, and this was a book I'd already read and loved a few years prior. It just wasn't the same kind of experience on any kind of sensual level. I love the literal and metaphorical heft of a book, and for me, e-readers eliminate that entirely.

Lately I've done most of my reading in the tub, so definitely paper books (because I know myself, I would drop my Fire in the water). I occasionally read books on my Kindle when I'm in bed nursing, but more often I use it to surf the web or play games.

I have one of the original kindles and I find it doesn't hold a charge for very long, so I am still mostly reading on paper books. I find this kind of surprising considering I really thought I'd use the kindle a ton since I live abroad and we have slim pickings on English books.

I mostly do paper books, bc I'm cheap and go to the library weekly. I read pretty quickly - probably at least 6 books a month - and it would add up!
Our library offers e books but the waiting lines are too long. I generally buy 1 ebook a month for my book club. I use the kindle app for iPad.

Paper books. I haven't read any books on my kindle, we only use it for the internet. I feel like I'd have trouble following along and I think it would be too bright for my eyes/migraines.

It's a mix. If I'm going on vacation, I will usually download a few Kindle books so that I don't have to lug around a bunch of books. If it's a book that'll look good on our bookshelves, I will buy the paper one. I also borrow a lot of books from the library.

@Leialou: @MungBean: Completely agree with you ladies! I don't want to ever make the switch to an e-reader! I LOVE having books and having my house full of bookcases! One of my favorite things to do is spend time browsing the book store!
The only thing I'd like an e-reader for is reading my lady porn, haha. I love a steamy romance novel and there's only so much room in the bookcase in my bedroom. Those are the kind of books I don't want just lying around for my kids to find, you know?

This is sad, but I've given up on traditional books. Kindle has made my life so much easier, it's hard to go back. But I do miss my HB first editions back home

I love books and reading, so it doesn't matter much to me whether it's in e-reader or paper form. I don't see an e-reader as much different from a paper book. I think it's even better because it makes books a lot more accessible. I guess I just don't understand how you would understand information differently based on where you're reading it. I can see if you're reading on your computer or smartphone, but an e-reader? I'd be interested in learning more (not that it would change my mind). The only thing I would say is obviously our kids are not reading their children's books on a Kindle.
We still own a ton of books, but anything new I buy on Kindle. We don't have the space for more books without getting rid of existing ones, and we've already pared everything down to the bare minimum. And not that we're going to move for some time, but packing and moving physical books is a pain in the butt.

@dagret: I read almost all library ebooks on my nook. It doesn't even require a trip to the library!
I recently received an ipad, so I'm making the switch from ebooks on the nook color to ebooks on the ipad. I use mainly overdrive media console to read free library ebooks. I still have some paper books that I haven't read, so I save those for reading in the bath or at the beach.

I love to read, whether it's kindle or paper. We dont have room for more books though without getting rid of old ones, and I've already gotten rid of anything I can bear to part with.
If I buy new, I buy kindle. If I go to the thrift store, I may pick up some interesting paper books but then I give them to my mom when I'm done reading.

I read most of my books on Kindle via my ipad or iphone. I'll only buy a paper copy if it's not available on Kindle and I think I'll be referring to it often, like a cookbook or a reference guide, or I'll make an exception for a beautiful coffee table book. And some childcare/education books where I just can't see myself taking the time to find my phone, go to the table of contents, etc.

I am obsessed with all things related to technology (as I type this post from my iPhone), but I just can't get on board with e-readers for actual novels. I love holding a book, turning the pages and displaying them on our bookcases. I enjoy reading articles on my phone, but I love reading stories from actual paper books.

I LOVE technology - I have spent a lot of time on my new iPhone this weekend and I'm on my mac consistently throughout the day... But I cannot stand reading for long periods of time on an electronic device. There is something refreshing and uplifting about an actual paper book in my hands and the tangibility of it. The smell, turning the pages etc...

I do a mix of real books and reading on my iPad. Sometimes I'll be at a bookstore and see something that catches my eye and I'll buy it. I also love perusing discount bookstores and sections!
Other times, I LOVE the ease and immediacy of purchasing an e-book! If I hear about a certain book that sounds good, I'll immediately purchase the e-version via Amazon.

I do both.. We don't have a bookstore anywhere near us (the nearest one is... 30 minutes away? at least), so if it's something I have to have right away, I buy it on my Kindle or my husband's Nook. I browse at the library weekly, though, and on Barnes and Noble's website pretty frequently for paper books that look interesting.
In the town we used to live in, there were a milion dusty, badly lit used bookstores that I LOVED. I miss that quite a bit, and I would buy all my books used, if I had the opportunity. Sigh, it's just not an option where we are now, so I have to buy online or borrow from the library. I miss the experience of book stores.

I only read paper books. I understand the appeal of e-readers to someone who travels a lot or commutes, but nothing will ever be the same to me as a paper book. It makes me really sad to imagine a future with all or mainly e-books. I also can't imagine ever reading to children on an e-book.

a mix of both! last year i read a ton of books on my kindle. recently, i've been reading actual books and magazines and my poor kindle hasn't seen the light of day. charged it up the other day though, so i'll probably dl some new books soon~

I really love actual books. When ebooks became all the rage I swore I would never even go there because I love the look and feel of actual books too much! But then... I got an iPad. It's too easy to get free kindle books & just download them whenever you want! If it's a bestseller that will probably be just as expensive for the e-version, then I'll usually buy a hardcopy. Also, I have hardcopy textbooks for all my classes. I think it'd be far too difficult to do electronic versions of textbooks!

I have an ereader but find that I can usually buy paper books cheaper. But I'm also known to read nearly anything, so I don't usually go searching for a specific title.
