We read E a mix of "baby" books and older toddler/children's books. Dr. Seuss--(particularly The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham and ABC) is popular around here, as is Maurice Sendak. We also read a lot of Eric Carle and Dr. Seuss's younger books, and some others, like The Gruffalo and Ferdinand, are read often.

I've always believed in giving my daughter things both at and above her level - just to give her interesting challenges and something to work towards. As soon as she stopped ripping up paper books (maybe 15 months) I brought down all the lovely books I had for her. Now at 22 months she loves to be read longer story books, and to just read through them on her own.

Xander's only 4.5 months, so I'm not really sure there's much at his level, haha. But I definitely read very short baby-ish books AND longer, more involved books. Mostly for my own sanity.

Sometimes, but board books are the perfect length for her toddler attention span.

Heh, E is 6 weeks and DH just finished Treasure Island. So cute to listen to him pirate talk to a sleepy baby.
We definitely plan on reading chapter books when he's much older. I have a fairly extensive collection of Dr. Seuss and other books that we'll read as well.

2 years old and we now read him chapter books. We have a Monsters University book, 2 Phineas and Pherb books and 2 Captain Underpants. He loves his books.

Oh my gosh, my son has lots of books "above" his level and when he picks his bedtime story he occasionally picks one of those. The other day he picked one with a cute tiger on the cover and it was about the food chain. I don't think he understood but I was sort of horrified.

Our 3 year old is reading the Little House series with me.
Our 17 month old is not interested in books. I struggle to get through Baby Animals or If I were a Bunny.

When DD was about 6 months old we started reading to her every night at bedtime. I would sit and nurse her and DH would read a chapter out of the Magic Tree House series. She is now 3 and we have read all of the books to her; we are currently reading "The Wind in the Willows". Aside from the bedtime books, we read toddler appropriate or board books with her.
DS is 10 months and we are starting to read him the Magic Treehouse books but aren't as disciplined as we were with DD.
