One just opened up by our house and holy cow spices are cheap! This huge bag of chili powder was two bucks and I got one of cumin and cinnamon too.

I shop at an Asian market about once a month.

I shop at a filipino market by my house every so often. There's also an Indian market I'd love to browse but haven't yet! I bet spices are good deals there, too ^_^

Yes! We have a lot of asian markets around here, and most things are a lot cheaper than other grocery stores.

Yep. Korean, Thai, Indian, and occasionally Japanese and Vietnamese. I wish we had a Middle Eastern one around here.

@Arden: holy diversity! I live in white bread, USA but maybe I need to do some more searching and see if there are others by me!

I used to shop at a variety of Asian markets from time to time -- we had Chinese, Japanese, and Korean markets all quite close to our old house. I also would get a few things at the Russian market pretty regularly. Now we live in small town white bread USA where the grocery store with the best ethnic selection is Walmart. I kid you not. Can't wait until we move to a bigger city in the next few months, and we'll at least have some better grocery options again.

We have a large international market that opened last year that I love - they have an aisle or two or three for every cuisine/culture. It's so cheap too!

Yep, all the time since there are two Korean markets within 10 minutes and a Chinese market within 20 minutes. Asian markets are usually cheaper for veggies and certain items. I don't know what I would do without one!

Asian markets are abundant around here. I frequent the Chinese, Japanese, Filipino and general Asian markets. Sometimes I'll go to Indian or Korean markets for something specific. There's an Italian deli/market that I've really been meaning to go to, but haven't gotten the chance.

I shop at the Asian grocer about once every month or two. It is primarily Japanese, but I can find Chinese items there too.
And yes, the spices are SUPER CHEAP. They sell star anise in bottles (e.g. same as Safeway) for about $5-6. But they also sell it in a different aisle in plastic bags (like in the picture in the original post) for about $2 for way more product!

We shop at one of the many Asian markets in the city near us maybe once a month. My MIL recommended a certain one that she shops at so we often go there.

We only have an Asian market, and it gets closed multiple times a year by the health department, so we don't go :[ I wish we had some to go to!!

There's a Polish store not too far. We also have a German Deli and an Asian market in my town, but I haven't been to the Asian market, yet. There's a ton of Latin stores, but I only have been to one of them.
I've never been to an Indian store, but I know where one is. I just don't know what to go looking for there.

yes, but one of our asian markets was just shut down by the health inspector. i always thought that one was skeevy and always checked dates and only bought canned/bottled stuff there.

The one I usually go to is mostly Hispanic food, but they have a little of everything and a delish bakery next door. I love going.

We have multiple Asian markets in this area, and I visit one at least every other week! Their vegetables and seafood are almost always cheaper and fresher.

I used to shop at an Armenian/middle eastern market down the street from my apartment. They had the most amazing hummus, dates, and such cheap spices! The immigrant population in my new town is Hispanic (Guatemalan and Brazilian) but I haven't tried any of the ethnic markets yet.
