Madewell. If I could afford it, I'd shop here all the time. I like looking through the sales rack though. I recently bought a few pairs of cords (that I LOVE) and want to go back and get some more in different colors!

Madewell - especially in the Fall/Winter. It's more my style than JCrew (sister company). I try to only buy on sale though.

@shopaholic: It's definitely more my style too! JCrew is a little too preppy/conservative for me. I like Gap too but only for basics and casual stuff.

I recently bought one of their dresses while in SF and i find it so versatile! I'd probably shop their more often if they had a store in Canada.

@banana: @Freckles: Alright, I feel better now! It's weird because in NYC I would have never felt old wearing it, but the style in the suburbs is just... different. But whatever - I will shop with confidence and enjoy my Madewell purchases.

@Freckles: Their shoes are really comfy because they're made of really soft leather. I haven't bought any....only tried them on at the store. I'm totally coveting some ankle boots to wear with my cord skinnies right now.
Especially these ones.

@banana: I was looking at those too, but i'm not sure if i'm down with the wine colour. I love the shape and sheen of the boots! I hate buying shoes without trying them on though! Knowing how lazy i am, i'll probably never return them if they don't fit right.

@swedishfish: I don't think it's THAT popular (definitely less popular than JCrew). It's a little trendier than JCrew IMO. I don't know how many store fronts they have. But I have one near me and it's hard not to buy anything when I go to "window shop".

I agree. I like the prints there more than the JCrew prints. I haven't bought any dresses yet though! I'm stocking up on cords and jeans for the fall/winter. Great sales right now!

@banana: I was in the store a few months ago and a lady walked in and she had the madewell "look" down... She was definitely over 40.. Turns out she was one of their buyers or something like that. After that I was like.. Shoot I can do this if she can! I'm gonna check out their cords!

I'm 31 and I don't think Madewell is for a younger crowd at all! Or maybe I just don't dress my age...
I really like their stuff and I also have a couple of pieces that I got on sale. Now that I've learned from @freckles that shipping to Canada is free, I may be adding more!

@T-Mom: Yes, check out the cords! I bought some for $70 (still pricey but the quality is SO good). They're normally $90. And cords are a staple clothing item for me. The madewell ones are soft and stretch, which I love!

I feel like I have been missing out for so long. I tend to shop at J.Crew since there are stores nearby, and it's easy to make returns. I should branch out and try Madewell. Wish there was a store nearby. Wait... there are two! Nearby as in an hour away but totally feasible. Must check out soon.
