I used to ski, but i recently got into snowboarding with DH. It's definitely a fun activity for us to do together. We see little kids snowboarding/skiing and they look sooo cute! I didn't start skiing until i was 9 years old, but we talk about getting LO started when she's 5.
It is winter 6 months of the year here, so we may as well do activities to make the most of it!

hehe. we signed the boys (5 & 8) up for snowboarding this year. They did so well and were SO cute!
I personally don't snowboard or ski, they both scare me. So I just watch and clap for them. However, my DH does snowboard so they all have fun on the hill while I watch and snack. lol

I've skied once in my life, with DH when I was 21, and I was so petrified that I was never able to do anything on my own. DH skied for both of us--stood behind me with his skies outside of mine and our poles held horizontally across my chest. Every.single.time, lol.
DH is a great skier. I don't know that I'll ever have the confidence to...I'll stick to tubes or sleds, lol. I made him promise that day that if I ever had kids (not assuming they'd be his, yet 
he'd have to teach them to ski when they were really little so they weren't 21 and scared of dying.
He and FIL are already planning on taking DS the first time when he's probably 2.5, but definitely not until after he's potty-trained.

YES... DH & I both ski, we love it. I haven't gotten to go last winter and probably this winter because i was pregnant and now we have an infant, but DH got out once this year - and we'll put our son in ski lessons as soon as he's big enough!

DH and I both ski! I think he's tried snowboarding but I haven't. We're definitely going to teach our LO to ski! Two sets of friends started their daughters off this year and they're both 2

@FutureMrsMcK: That's a really sweet image i have! I find that you become less brave when you're older! I've gotten the hang of snowboarding, but i'm not comfortable with speed yet.
@hellobeeboston: i missed out last season because i was pregnant, so it was really nice to get out this year.

@caffeinated: Yep, I froze every time I tried to go down on my own. I kept imaging running into something and breaking a leg and losing my job because I couldn't work (and I didn't have health insurance at the time) and losing my house because I couldn't pay rent and ending up living on the street and...you get the picture, lol. Little kids don't think like that.

@Caffeinated - I think once they can stand/walk, you're good to go! Both friends started on the bunny hill, doing wedge skiing and whatnot. Eventually you toggle them to your waist and they ski between your legs (but in front of you, if that makes sense).

I have never been skiing before but DH loves to go. He wants to take her when at like age 2 or 3 and get her started.

Wagon Sr. loves to snowboard (took it as a class in college!). I bought all my gear and tried for 3 winters straight to get into it. I'm just not built for it! I finally sold all my gear this year. We'll probably go on a trip next winter where Wagon Jr. will start to learn. I'll spend my lift ticket money on spa treatments and snuggle with LMW in the lodge.

I tried skiing 3 different times as a kid and I always ended up crying, snot freezing to my face and going into the lodge so my dad and siblings could actually enjoy their lift tickets. I'm just not a skier! Lol

I ski and DH snowboards, so when we have LOs they will do which ever one they prefer.
I started when I was young.. maybe about 6? My sister and brother started the same year,, and they were 5 and 3. We took lessons then my mom would take us up on the chair lift herself. No idea how she did it!

I've been snowboarding for about 15 years (practically lived on the mountain in high school) and I forced my Miami-born DH to learn to ski so we could go together! Our kids will def learn to do one or the other and we'll hopefully start them young!

I have skied before, but I'm not good at it and don't love it because I'm always afraid of falling. I on first tried it in high school and never went often enough to feel comfortable. I'm open to trying it again at some point, though.
DH LOVES to ski and will definitely take our kids out as soon as they are old enough. He used to teach little kids ski lessons for free lift passes in high school.

I don't really snowboard/ski but I will go if I have to! I can get down the bunny slope ok :).
My DH is an avid snowboarder and will definitely teach LO how to snowboard.

@sammyfab: That is awesome. I didn't think a toddler could snowboard so that is why we were going to start our son on skiing first. But that gives me hope we can teach him to snowboard (we both prefer it).

We were both heavily involved in the ski industry and our motto is, "if they can stand, they can ski".
As a former snowboard instructor, I don't recommend kids snowboarding until they have enough weight to turn the board. (Usually around age 5).

I've never done either but I hope to at some point! DH went snowboarding once with his brother and he was sore but said he loved it and wanted to go again with me! I think both of us would love to introduce LO to it when she's a bit older.

Skiing terrifies me! I have done it a few times, but my fear gets the best of me and I always end up heading to the lodge and drinking hot cocoa by the fire while I wait for everyone else to get in I would love to take lessons to get better.
I don't want Hadley to have the same fears that I do, so I want her skiing with her dad right away! I absolutely LOVE seeing the little kids in ski school zipping by my down the slopes

DH and I both have Season Passes and a family home in the moutains. I married a total Ski Bum, so if I didn't join in, I'd miss out on a lot of weekend trips with him! He skis and I snowboard (though I'm not that good). I didn't start learning until my late 20s. I'll probably try to learn how to ski a little bit before LO starts so I can help guide. We will start our LO(s) when they are 2-3 years old. It's definitely do-able, we see it all the time!

I learned to ski at 24 or 25 bc DH's family owns a ski condo and I would have had many lonely weekends if I didn't get w the program. It was definitely challenging but I'm so glad I did bc it's great to be able to enjoy an outdoor activity in the winter. DD was just over 1 when she skied for the first time w her dad. She loved it and did about 10 runs on the magic carpet, which is basically an AstroTurf conveyor belt. I haven't been myself in a few years but now that DD is 23mo I feel more comfortable dropping her off at the resort's childcare.

PS - I highly recommend taking lessons. I always took a refresher lesson at the start of every season. They help so much!
