Now that B is walking, I never really wear him anymore. I've been thinking about selling my Tula but my husband thinks we should hold off just in case. Is it worth keeping or will it likely collect dust in my trunk?

We still carry my 3 year old. At DLand and around town. Sometimes in the mall or other trips. It's a lot easier than in arms carrying.

Oh yes, constantly. At the store, on hikes, in airports, any time we are out and she wants to nap, etc.

I thought we had more time but LO has said "no" to the carrier for about two months now (since just after walking). I just packed it up for my nephew to be at 18 months.

Yes, but mostly on public transportation and when we are traveling. It's easier that way.

We bring our Ergo out if we know we're going to be out for 2+ hours and she needs a break. Mainly because i hate bringing the stroller. She is 29 months.

Nope. Our two year old didn't like the carrier much when he was an infant. With him, the stroller is much easier to handle him. When we have our second LO, they'll be carried much more just to manage a toddler and a newborn.

@Arden: I forgot about the airport! The Tula was a lifesaver this summer when I had literally had to sprint through the airport so we didn't miss our flight.

DD is almost 20 months and I still wear her daily. She's been walking for more than half her life at this point.

I rarely wear my 15 month old, she prefers to walk most of the time and will lunge toward the ground and push away from me after a while.

@Ra: I still wear her in the airport or when I'm traveling and need the extra hands (bus, foreign country, etc.). I also wear her on my back when I know she's tired and she'll just fall right asleep when we're out for long periods of time. She actually sleeps better that way than in the stroller sometimes.

Oh yes; LO is 27 months and I wear her every weekend. I always wear her in airports, have worn her at Disneyland/zoo/aquarium/similar places.
I only use my stroller for jogging; otherwise I carry her.
She's 25lbs. so pretty small still; I never get a backache, even if I wear her all day.
Eta: here we are last weekend at the DC Zoo!

Yep. She likes to be up and down, depending on what's going on

I wear LO sometimes, we use stroller a lot too. I definitely will keep my Ergo for quite awhile and I might get a Toddler Tula eventually... (Lo is 19 months and barely 20 lbs.)

All the time. I'm trying to get hold of a Toddler Tula at the moment.

We have an Ergo and I thought the last time I would wear DS1 was apple picking just after his first birthday. I was pregnant and figured I'd just use it for the new baby when he arrived. And that is what I did for the most part but recently I discovered it is easier to wear DS1 when going to the beach and bringing DS2 in the single stroller with his car seat so that he has a place to sleep. We also used the same configuration at the airport recently and it was SO much easier. I had DS1 on my back and could easily carry DS2 through the metal detector. I definitely think there are many uses for a carrier with a walking toddler!

Yep. Not frequently, but she doesnt mind riding on my back in the Ergo.

I did all the time before I got pregnant; now it's a little less comfortable. He listens pretty well but his default speed is 'run' which can be problematic when I'm trying to pick out library books or walk in a small downtown shop. If he walked instead of ran everywhere, we probably wouldn't use it near as often.

We just got a Tula so we can carry him on vacation - he's a walking, 30lbs, 17m old. I got the "free to grow " extenders so his seat is wider because we don't carry him enough to warrant a Toddler Tula. We only had a "soft carrier" and a backpack style carrier before that and can reuse the standard one with #2 next year...

My 21 month old weighs 28 lbs, and I haven't worn her in a long time. She is at an age where she can walk and understands directions like "Hold my hand," or "Stay right by Mommy." So I do t really need to contain her.
But when she was walking and didn't understand those things, just wanted to go go go, I often wished I wore her to kind of keep her safe. But she just got too heavy once she hit 24 or so pounds. I'm a pretty small person, so it just didn't work for me anymore.
I probably haven't worn her for 6 or 7 months and that was when I was traveling solo with her, trying to get through the airport.

I think it depends. My kid was a heavy beast by the time he was 18 months, and I also get really hot and uncomfortable carrying him in the carrier. However, my husband occasionally back carried him in the Ergo until he was almost 3.5. But that was mostly out of desperation if we really had to go somewhere and he was too tired or stubborn to walk. I think he has almost hit the weight limit for the Ergo in any case. I would say keep your carrier until he is at least 2.5...you never know when you might need it in a pinch.

yep! our ergo is a must have for days at the beach when LO wants to nap

I still wear my almost 22 month old in the Ergo quite frequently. He seems to love it (actually asks for it sometimes) but I am not sure for how much longer he'll enjoy/tolerate it!
Side note- he's a bit on the smaller side at about 23.5 pounds.
pineapple / 12053 posts
yep. LO has been walking since 10 months and we still wear her at 19 months!
honeydew / 7687 posts
Adding that mine is pushing 30!pounds and we switched to a toddler Tula around 12m/22 lbs. more for my comfort than his!

My LO is only 8mo and nowhere near walking but he's already decided he isn't into baby wearing anymore - he just wriggles around and tries to get away, he's so much happier in his pushchair. I'm hoping he might get back into it at some point like all your toddlers!

Definitely keep it around! We used it a lot during the stroller-hating phase! I wore my second child til she was 2 years and 4 months. I was 16 weeks pregnant and starting to pop. We had practiced the back carries a few times and could've continued, but then she started cooperating with the stroller again, so we stopped.
Now I'm using my carrier for #3, but a few times since giving birth have also worn my toddler (now 3 yo) again.

I guess I'm in the minority...I couldnt imagine putting him in the Ergo after he started walking. He is so independent, I think he would throw a fit....plus hes super tall.
