Just wondering!
Just wondering!

Yes, especially if I'm wearing boots and especially if it's nasty out. But I'm usually in the chair for a while (my mouth is crap), so I like to be comfy. I bring headphones, too!

No, I don't.
Like before you enter the office? Or while you are in the chair?
I forget where I was but they offered guest slippers to get you comfortable.

@aprild: people definitely do it! Lol
@LovelyPlum: I do understand if you have muddy shoes! I guess that makes sense!
@bluestriped bee: while you're in the chair.

OMG no. I have really sweaty (err...stinky) feet and wouldn't want to subject my dentist/hygienist to that, lol.

No. There is plastic at the end of the chair, I assumed so they can just wash off the dirt.

@yellowbird: I live in NY, where it's muddy like 6 months out of the year, so it makes sense here. But I think I've always done it, even before I moved here. Looks like I'm in the minority, though!

So, there was this one time that I was there for a filling and my shoe kept popping off so I asked the hygienist if it was okay if I took them off. But NO, I do not do it on the regular, I think it's totally weird and I felt so weird taking them off that day but I couldn't handle them.

I would not be shocked if a dentist asked me to do it here since the culture is very shoes off indoors. (I leave my shoes at the door at my physical therapist's office). But so far, I have never encountered shoes off at the dentist.

No, and never thought to since my shoes won't really tough anything?
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Oh, there were a few times where I was cold and they gave me a blanket to put over myself. I did have the thought in my head that maybe I should take my shoes off but I ended up just putting the blanket on my legs and not on my shoes.

No, I would be worried about the state of my feet---are they stinky? Have I had a pedicure recently? (probably not).
Yuckkk.

In the winter yes.
I'm in Canada and most places like that (dentist, spa, Doctor) ask to remove boots at the door to prevent snow and slush from making a mess.
pineapple / 12793 posts
Didn't know this was a thing.
If my boots were wet or muddy I would, but if I was wearing dry shoes definitely not.

I was at the dentist a couple of weeks ago, and they had a sign up requesting that people put a pair of the provided sandals on and leave their boots by the door.
At LO's doctor, they requested you do the same, but didn't provide footwear. And same with the changerooms at the gym/pool.

No, my dentist's chair has a long foot rest, which makes keeping my shoes on nice and comfortable.
pear / 1986 posts
Nope! Never would have occurred to me even if my boots were wet and muddy.
pomelo / 5129 posts
No. The only public place I take my shoes off is at a spa for a pedicure.
Or a doctor that requires me to drop trou
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
Heck no!
@Smurfette: Exactly! They can easily clean the spot where my dirty shoes were if necessary.
honeydew / 7303 posts
Hahaha, well it seems like a lot of my patients are taking their shoes off lately and I was just wondering if this was a new thing!
