like @anonysquire stripper. doesnt teach your kid good values adn they will get teased for it relentlessly when they are older and their friends find out.

After watching Celebrity Wife Swap I think strippers can be good parents. Coolio's live in girlfriend was a child whisper and exotic dancer.

Prostitute, pimp, drug dealer, and drug maker (meth lab, Breaking Bad anyone?) are very dangerous.

First responders...cops, fireman, EMT. I feel so bad when they are deployed during bad storms because knucklehead people don't want to seek shelter and stay put.

Any job that requires heavy, heavy overnight travel or crazy, suoer long hours if your priority as a parent is to spend quantity (not just quality) time with your child.

@Pirouette: I was thinking of the Americans too. Probably any kind of spy isn't a great career for parents.

Otherwise, I think it's more about the couple than one individual. Like, if both parents have high powered jobs where they routinely work 12 hour days and have to go in on weekends, then yeah, that's going to take a major toll on the family. But if one parent does that and the other has much more flexible hours, it would be a lot easier (though, I imagine, would still suck for the parent that hardly gets to spend time with their kids). Along the same lines, any job that is really dangerous would be tough with kids, but still would be easier if one parent had a safe job so even if the unthinkable happened, the kids wouldn't be orphans... which is a horrible thought, sorry.

Stripper/Exotic Dancer/ Porn, Astronaut, Celebrities, Military, Drug traffickers

@grizz: I guess i don't consider 'drug dealer' a profession. How closed minded of me I do agree on that though-- anything where a prison term is likely is probably a bad job for any parent.

@Foodnerd81: I think my mind went there because I'm a social worker. I have clients who report zero income to me for all their food stamps/WIC/etc paperwork but somehow end up driving an Escalade. Makes me angry haha

Honestly, sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do to put food on the table and a roof over your child's head. Sure, some professions are more ideal than others. However, I think it is possible to be a stripper, porn star, and even a drug dealer and still be a good parent. If it came down to it, and I fell on hard times, I'd do whatever it takes to provide my child his basic needs. If that means becoming a stripper, then so be it. Certainly not ideal, but I don't think that it would make me a bad parent.

I would say anything illegal for sure!

Also, anything that would be highly demanding of time like Emergency Medicine or other branches of medicine that require lots of hospital time. I worked at the hospital for a couple years in the lab & ultimately left because the strain of shift work on G.... I saw the doctors up there all. the. time. often having their "family dinners" in the hospital cafeteria. I loved it there but had alot of trouble finding a balance (if there is such a thing). And personally anything that would endanger me like firefighter, officer, military... while they are all high integrity jobs I know I couldn't deal with the strain of worrying for my safety on my family.
