I hope this isn't a silly question but I've shockingly never bought a piece of furniture that wasn't something cheap from a box, so obviously I've never had anything delivered. We are having a table and chairs delivered on Tuesday and they are assembling it for us. We paid for the delivery, so wasn't sure if we are supposed to tip on top of it...anyone know?

We didn't tip when our couches were delivered.
Now if they did extra stuff, like they weren't obligated to put the stuff in my house, just deliver it to my front door, but did, then yeah I'd probably tip.

We never have. Hope we weren't being really rude! We've had things delivered several times.

No. We've had people deliver furniture twice, and they definitely didn't go above and beyond in any way that I would feel the need to give them a tip.

Yes, I always tip for delivery, especially if they set it up/assemble. Usually $10-$20 a guy, depending on what was ordered and what was done.

I usually tip. It's never clear to me how much is appropriate, but it just seems right to do it. They always place the furniture where it'll live and take away the trash, so I'm not left with any work.

The only furniture I've ever had delivered was from Pottery Barn/PBK (this ends up being the only place I buy furniture from!) and they charge exorbitant shipping and "White Glove Delivery" fees. So I don't tip because I've already shelled out a fortune just to have it delivered. If I was having furniture delivered from a local store where delivery was free or really inexpensive, then I would. But for instance, when all was said and done for my daughter's Big Girl Furniture delivery, it cost me over a couple of hundred in delivery so I thought that was a'plenty;)
