Do you get suckered into buying more when there is a gift with purchase event? I usually do! But I also try to wait until there is a discount or gift event before I buy my makeup.

Yes...I know I am being suckered into spending more but it still seems like I am getting more for my money with a gift. LOL

Usually. I got lucky with my daycare gifts and a promo about spending a certain amount for a $25 bonus card. I'm game for that. I love most gift with purchase things.

I usually try to wait. But if I really need something, then I will get suckered into buying more than I need.

If I can time my purchases to a gift event I do as long as the gift is helpful to me. Mascara is always a big pull for me because I hate buying them, I always have to pitch them long before they are empty so it makes much more sense for me. In general it takes me forever to go through makeup so sometimes I just buy sampler packs or travel sizes anyway (like Dr. Jart has a travel size bb cream and benefit sells lots of cute little gift sets.)

I do if it's something that I'll use...then I just get dbl of my purchases (usually they are essentials/stock stuff I have to rebuy in the future any way)

I'm a sucker for buying more stuff to get "free" shipping. DH gets on me about it all the time... Ill find $20 worth of more things instead of paying $8 for shipping

@Cole: I LOVE the sample sized mascaras. It pains me to throw away mascara that isn't finished (and I have to admit I'm not really good about throwing it away after 3-4 months). In fact, I really like that Sephora sells smaller tubes of the Benefit one. I'm digging that one lately.

@beaker: I absolutely would rather pay $20 for something I would want/need than pay $8 for shipping

The gift has to be something I know I'll actually use or a result of buying things I would buy anyway. It really depends. I don't need any more makeup bags so that's not too enticing.
I'm a sucker for free shipping though. I hate paying for "nothing", so will buy another $12.00 item and consider it "half price" if it saves me the $6.00 shipping kind of thing.

yup! my mom is a good sport and will often go in on something with me so i can get the 'free' gift. like for my cousin's wedding, if you spent over $300 on calphalon items in the same transaction, you got a free $50 bed bath & beyond card, so we bought our gifts at the same time and she let me keep the gift card. i have a nice mama

@sunny: I used to keep them for years and then got an eye infection... then I kept one for like six months and got yet another eye infection. So mini mascara it is for me now!
