I love it. It's the only thing that has kept us from drinking too much soda while we're home. I really missed it when I was pregnant!

@mediagirl: Wait.... I drink crystal light every now and then and I'm pregnant. Am I not supposed to?
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
My SIL lets her kids drink it every day. I don't think its terrible, but its a staple in their house. I don't plan on letting my LO drink it.

@MamaMoose: I had heard that you weren't supposed to have aspartame while pregnant and I guess some Crystal Light varieties has that in it. I just cut it all out so I didn't have to think about it. I just read an article online that said it's fine. Who knows??

@Thehistoryofus: Huh. I never would have thought about feeding it to our lo. I think we'll have real juices or lemonades on hand for the lo.
I did drink real lemonade while I was pregnant and it was soooooo good. Bring on the empty calories!!!

@mediagirl: Haha ok. I really only have it every now and then so I'm not going to worry about it. It's too hard to keep up with all the things we aren't "supposed" to do!

I drink it now because I have GD! I miss real drinks!

I don't because I don't consume artificial sweeteners

No the original versions had artificial sweeteners which I dont like plus I don't really get the point of crystal light. Is it meant to be a flavoring for water?
squash / 13199 posts
@Coco Bee: They have a new version called Pure which doesnt have artificial sweeteners I saw it at the supermarket. But again I still didnt get the point of it. I'd rather drink water or actual juice

@Mrsbells: we drink it because it cuts out the calories that you would consume with a regular beverage. I get bored with just plain water.

@MamaMoose: My doctor told me to not worry about the aspartame. I still drink Crystal Light a couple times a week.

I used to, but they all taste too fake for me now. I'd rather just do water with a squeeze of lemon

@Coco Bee: Its sweetened with truvia with is classed as a natural sweetener.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Coco Bee: It's sweetened with sugar AND Truvia - I have 2 boxes in my desk right now. 1/2 packet (which is for 8oz water) has only 15 calories and 3g sugar. I usually only put about 1/3-1/2 packet in 16oz water. I get bored with plain water, so I like that it gives me a little bit of flavor without loading up on sugar and calories.
Last night I bought a Nantucket Nectar 100% fruit juice (pomegranate and cherry) and was FLOORED to find that it had 58g of sugar in it! It only had 12g less than Hubs' Mountain Dew! I'd much rather mix up some Crystal Light than drink that!
squash / 13199 posts
@eiko2010: but the suagrs in the 100% juice are natural sugars, its like eating a sweet fruit like banana, even though its higher in calories they are good calories

True Lemon also has a product that is just stevia sweetened. I love their plain lemon and lime for cooking and water! http://www.truelemonstore.com/products/true_lemonade

We use Mio when we're trying to jazz up our water. I actually quite like plain water, but sometimes you just need to mix things up.
honeydew / 7504 posts
@Mrsbells: Sugar is sugar, any way you slice it - if it doesn't get burned, it gets stored as fat. And at 7:30pm last night, those 58g of sugar were not getting burned.

I used to drink a lot of Crystal Light and then cut it out after being pregnant. I hate water, but I found that squeezing lots of lemon into ice water tasted great, and that's what I drank all throughout pregnancy and nursing.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@Mrsbells: agreed.
@eiko2010: that's why I bought my own juicer!! It's the only juice I drink now. Totally natural sugar. I generally don't drink it at night but I do think there is a huge difference between processed, refined sugar and naturally occurring sugar in fruit.

I'm a water drinker myself but am still sometimes fighting off my old soda addiction from years back. My husband keeps cokes in the house and sometimes they become a temptation but I discovered it was actually the carbonation that I was desiring not all the sugar and empty calories. So now whenever that urge comes on I use the sodastream to carbonate some water and then mix in a little bit of that crystal light pure and my soda craving is fixed Other than that though, I pretty much only drink water with the occasional small glass of fresh orange juice every once in a while. I'm really hoping hubby will be willing to kick the soda habit when the LO gets old enough to be influenced by it!

I switched from crystal light to True lemon Lemonade. Similar flavor and convenience made with stevia instead of aspartame.

I love crystal light but stopped drinking it while pregnant as well - too much fake stuff.... Didn't know know about that pure version, maybe I will look into that...
I also like the true lemon to add to water sometimes.
