A bunch of people mentioned that they don't usually participate in online communities/forums... that was a surprise to me!
Do you usually participate in online communities/forums? What other communities have you been involved with?

Only HB! I was on WB for a little while but not very active I mostly lurked!

I read a few but don't post too often: slickdeals, flyertalk, milepoint and I used to be on WeddingBee when I was in that stage of my life.
My company also has something similar that is private and I also read a few that interest me, both work and non-work related.

First time was WB and now HB. I do read other forums often but I don't participate. I don't like getting into things online unless I can make it my "official thing". I don't just want random accounts everywhere. That's half the reason I don't have FB. I just don't have the time to keep up with it so its not worth it for me.

Nope, just here and Facebook. Never been apart of something like this before.

Really just this one and WB, and I lurk on Reddit.
I don't know, this place just feels like...hanging out and chatting with a group of friends, not strangers on the internet.

Just here. Used to be on WB, was on a few others while TTC since HB wasn't up yet, the other parenting sites were too snarky for me! I was so happy when HB went public!

I am a professional lurker of various forums. I participated a tiny bit on WB, but Hellobee is the first place where I am an active participant.

I was on WB for a bit but this is the most I've been involved with an online community.

Weddingbee was my first, and kindof ruined the idea for me. Glad I took a chance on HB!

HB is my first online community where I ever posted anything (aside from FB, or my local moms email group).. That's why I still feel like a newbie when it comes to online etiquette and some acronyms.

Not really. I skim WB sometimes and the Weight Watchers message boards, but this is the only place I comment anymore. Every once in a while I'll comment on those other two, but not much.

I was on WB for a long time, and now here (though limited, as we're still a few months out from TTC). Anything else I don't really consider an 'online community' - facebook, etc, is all people I know in real life.

WB was the first one and I was pretty active on there! This is the only other online community I've posted on.

WB a little, but HB by far is the only one I have been truely active in and have made what I consider "friends"
squash / 13199 posts
aside from this I've been on Weddingbee and one other forum. I'm usually not big on forums. I got into it during wedding planning

Just WB and HB . . . but I am waaay more active here. I also lurrrve to lurk on Reddit!

hm. Interesting.
I have been a part of quite a few communities. Some include:
BF3 gaming forums
WB
A local punk rock forum (Join there when I was 15!)
ESPN community college forums (that was short lived, I hate sports, am Canadian and got banned pretty fast lol)
those are just a few.

I've never been active on another site. I've lurked around a few.

@MrsTiz: I thought my interwebs would implode when I had to convert to Reddit from Digg!

before HB, there was just WB! I only discovered this whole concept when I discovered WB during random wedding dress searches online. I also checked out the knot's forums a couple of times, but really didn't like it for various reasons.
oh, and i forgot, i also participated in babycenter.ca local forums a little bit. But WB and HB are always my main forum go to sites.

Just WB and HB. I was already sort of losing interest in WB when HB went public and as soon as I found HB I never once went back.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
I was on WB and now I don't visit there, but I do HB everyday! Other than that, nope...the other ones I've lurked are full of rude people.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Just a little bit on WB and here! People are nice here and I find that the information/discussions going around are generally more intelligent and informed than on other sites.
coconut / 8854 posts
Just here and WB before this. I looove it here. No need to look elsewhere!
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
Mostly just checked out a few others - there are no boards as user friendly as HB.
I've participated in
-WB
-Spark People
-mothering magazine forum
and a few others but never posted more than 50 posts to each because I didn't like them/the members!
papaya / 10570 posts
I belonged to a different wedding planing forum but I didn't get on with their parenting forum (I'm not gay, tattoed, pierced or into neo-paganism and while I love reading about people who are all of these things, I need a community to be informative and supportive of my choices, even if they don't involve dying my child's hair with wet chalk!).
Anyway - HB is the only forum I currently contribute to! I joined a UK based baby forum but I don't get on with it at all.....
