I'm 4 minutes into the Pilot, and so far I'm not thrilled. Should I keep watching?

I just finished watching last night's episode! It does take an episode or two to get into. The humor is odd and the sex scenes are... interesting, but I like it. I watch it and then rehash it with my sister.

I hate watch it. It has some realistic things I did in my twenties and then not others. I was way more independent and self sufficient at that age than some of the characters.

It gets better in season one - but season two isn't great so far

I liked the second half of season one but I really don't like season two. I'll keep watching it but I'm not sure how long.

@cascademom: That's my issue. I felt annoyed when she thought her parents should still be paying for her in the first scene! haha

I watched a few episodes and don't like it. I don't think it's funny and it's definitely not the "voice of a generation" (well, maybe a spoiled portion of a generation).

@Mrs. Champagne: I have to argue with my dad to pay for dinner sometimes as an adult. I was never entitled like the characters. They remind me a lot of my 27 year old BIL still living at home with no job and no motivation to move forward with his life.

I haven't watch it yet, but I want to. It seems like most people at least like parts of it!

I do and I like it. I try not to read too much into it.
I've read so much criticism regarding the characters being so entitled. I realize it can be annoying, but I really don't feel like I can't criticize, because it does accurately (insofar as a TV show can be accurate) represent a certain swath of the 18-25 demographic.
I quite enjoyed this commentary on it/Lena Dunham: http://www.nybooks.com/articles/archives/2012/jun/07/loves-lena-dunham/?pagination=false

We hate watch it too, like @cascademom:
I don't really like any of the characters but I keep watching. Some parts of it remind me of when I first moved to NYC after college, only exaggerated time 100.

I agree that Season 1 was very good and Season 2 is just... meh. Except I liked the Patrick Wilson episode! Could also do with less topless Hannah...

I loved season one! Haven't gotten a chance to watch any of season two yet, but I'm looking forward to it.

@Mrs. Confetti: @MrsKoala: totally agree with you gals on season 2. I LOVED season 1 bc it was hilarious and sharply written (that bushwick party episode is all time!) . Now I feel myself trying to like it but everything seems so contrived. I'm hoping it gets better!

@sylvie_b: You said it! Contrived is the right word. The Patrick Wilson episode just felt forced to me. I get what they were trying to do with it but it just didn't work. The entire time I was watching I kept saying "What is going on?". It just changed the tone to me and didn't feel like the same show.

@MrsKoala: yeah that episode took a turn from the others, which I liked. I'm not a fan when shows get too formulaic. I liked it though mostly because I'm a big fan of his I also liked it visually... different camera perspectives, different music, etc...
I liked that write-up @HerGreenApples! I feel like many times people think this show is almost like a reality show and they criticize the characters for being too entitled and spoiled... Why is that bothersome if the characters aren't real and it's supposed to be funny? Then others say it's too artificial... but that's because it is. It's a TV show (and not a "reality" show either). Yeah, maybe some situations were based on the writer/creator's experiences, but it's still shown the way it is for entertainment purposes.

@MrsKoala: Yep, that episode was weird to me. At the same time, I totally admit to getting with much older, well established guys at that age, not a lost weekend of sex, but something similar. Personally, that episode was way too much Hannah for me. I liked the past two episodes where Adam and Shosh got more screen time. I'll pass on Charlie and Marnie.

@cascademom: Your first comment is reminding me that I will probably hate watch it too (once it finally gets released on Netflix and I can actually watch it)
I'm the same age as the girls on the show right now, but I'm already married with a baby...

@highwire: Back when I was their age, I was working an internship, hustling for a job in my field, trying to get independent. My parents paid for my apartment, but I still paid for everything else and my student loans. I can't relate to the "Girls."

I am older than the girls on the show and in a much different place in life, but I still like it. I don't find the characters or experiences to be relatable (or even find the characters all that likeable), but I can identify with some of the feelings they have. I definitely felt some of those same feelings when I graduated from college and had to "be an adult" for the first time. I do think season 1 was stronger than season 2. Season 2 is more serious and depressing.
