Absolutely. My husband got his nose out of joint about it, but i want my daughter to maintain her innocense and that definitely means shielding her from the shitshow that is this election/Donald Trump.

More so when they were covering the recent terrorist attacks. When my mom visits, she turns on MSNBC non stop and I had to put my foot down when my daughter was clearly distressed watching explosions and shooting. I don't mind her seeing Jake Tapper and Wolf Blitzer talk about Donald Trump. But that's because she's only 21 months. If she was older, yes I'd be uncomfortable letting her listen to all the "grabbing p****" talk.

we don't usually watch the news--we both tend to read it online anyway--but I've been actively changing the subject when dh and I are talking about the election in front of lo lately, just because we both get worked up and exasperated, and at 2.5 lo can sense that tension--even though we aren't arguing with each other, we agree! but we get so angry, and she can't tell yet that we aren't angry at each other or her. she doesn't need that negative energy to affect her
