The older I get the more I feel I need to add color to my face. I wear eye shadow and mascara but feel like I NEED lipstick....however... when I wear it I feel like I look ridiculous!

That's funny, I was thinking the same thing. it's like my lips have lost their pigment.

I do wear it sometimes, but I prefer lipgloss (not super glossy). I just found one I love at Sephora last week and I feel like I'm using it non stop! haha.

No, I find it too cakey no matter which brand I buy. I am EOS obsessed.. but if I am adding colour - a lightly coloured gloss.
ETA- if I do wear lipstick I end up mixing it or layering it with a gloss. I could never wear only lipstick.
Also, can we talk about lip STAINS? I hate those.. I feel like I am drawing on my lips with a marker.

Not every day but I do when we go out. I've gotten more brave in my color choices. I really like the Revlon Bitten lip crayons, it's suttle but pretty!

Pretty much never. I did on my wedding day and maybe one or two times since then. I only put blistex on my lips.

Sometimes, I like Laura Mercier and MAC.
@bushelandapeck: Which one did you buy? I have a gift card!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Nope. They always dry out my lips and peel a few minutes later.

I wear it occasionally. I prefer Revlon's Just Bitten lip stain. It glides on easily and doesn't feel too thick. Also I can wear it darker or lighter.

@LuLu Mom: @Leialou: oh 2 votes for Revlon lip stain - maybe I will check that out!

I do! ESPECIALLY since I went from blonde to a dark auburn-red with my hair. My cheeks & lips need a pop so I don't look so washed out.

@Mamaof2: If you wear chapstick underneath it is very suddle, if you want more color go without! I wear the red one (drawing a blank on the name) and I can wear it every day with chapstick underneath without feeling like a street walker

Yes! I love lipstick. I wear bright, dark, and dramatic colors!!
My favorite colors are Nectarine by Estée Lauder and New York Apple by MAC.

Never. I feel like I look ridiculous. I wear faintly tinted lip balm occasionally but mostly just the original burts bees.
hostess / wonderful honeydew / 32460 posts
Haha I asked about lipstick a while back too.
I picked up some Mac lipgloss instead. Love it!

Occasionally. I like it (although I always pick a close-to-lip-color shade that isn't toooo noticeable) and I also like gloss. But my issue is I never think to re-apply. So I feel like I look nice for maybe an hour? And then not so much anymore, and what is the point.

I feel weird having like a dense color on my lips, so I usually stick to lipgloss, but then I rarely wear that either...

I wear tinted lip balm and BB cream on regular stay-at-home days. When we're out, I wear lipstick/makeup. Gloss just looks too young to me, and I hate how my hair gets stuck in it. I wear (and love) Chanel Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
Nope, just lip balm. But I need to get some more makeup into my routine.

Oh you've asked the right person! I am a lip product junkie.
Hands down favorite is It Cosmetic's! It looks clear, applies like a balm, incredibly moisturizing but gives your lips the perfect pink flush, and it's a stain! (http://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod5770285#) I've gone through three tubes. I'm obsessed--especially during the colder months.
I've been gravitating toward Bobbi Brown's Rosy as of late: http://www.bobbibrowncosmetics.com/product/2342/25390/Makeup/Lips/Lip-Color/Sheer-Lip-Color/SS13/index.tmpl
Revlon's balm stain in Honey is also a favorite of mine.
Lipstick > Lipgloss errday!
nectarine / 2690 posts
Nope. But I have very thin/small/barely there lips lol so when I try to put color on them, I think I look ridiculous. And they're constantly chapped, so chapstick is all I use.
pomelo / 5000 posts
I did before my husband. He's pretty affectionate, so any lipstick I put on is guaranteed to be kissed right off if I'm around him, so I don't bother anymore!

YES. I wear it to work because I need some color on my face in the winter. Favorites:
Bobbi Brown's Brown and Crystal Pink
Lancome's Rouge In Love layered over a nude pencil, topped with Metallic Sunburst gloss
Clinique Apple Brandy
Clinique Almost Lipstick Black Honey

Sometimes. I like sheer stuff, like Clinique Black Honey in the really thin tubes (can't think of the product name). I also wear MAC lipglass. I have to be careful because I have really big lips and some products make me look like a clown!
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Rarely. Usually I stick to a tinted lip gloss or chapstick.
blogger / watermelon / 14218 posts
almost never!! My only lipsticks are very close to my lip color! Like you I feel ridiculous when I wear a color on my lips. I have, however, recently discovered a love for blush and bronzer!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@keiki_mama: I want to try all of them! Which shade do you have for the IT stain?
nectarine / 2504 posts
@autumnlove: I absolutely LOVE Je Ne Sais Quoi. I close second is Love Story but Je Ne Sais Quoi is so, so moisturizing. QVC also has good deals if you want to try more than one shade.
pomegranate / 3503 posts
I'm really enjoying my lipstick by too faced - I have it in a neutral shade though.
pomegranate / 3716 posts
Rarely, but I really want to start wearing some sort of lip stain or lip stick. It's weird because I make up the rest of my face every single day (BB cream, concealer, loose powder, eyebrow powder, eye shadow, eye liner, and blush)... but I always stop at the lips. It's like I forget about my lips and don't think about putting anything on them besides aquaphor or chapstick.
eggplant / 11408 posts
@autumnlove: @keiki_mama: I am a huge disaster at lipstick, and really makeup in general. I'd love to try the IT. It looks awesome! What Bobbi Brown do you use? Do you find that either of them dry out your lips?
cantaloupe / 6171 posts
I used to never wear lipstick, just sheer gloss or chapstick (I like Fresh brand sugar lip treatment). I thought it looked weird on me, I like the color of my lips as they are, haha. I've worn a little more color in the past year-- like Laura Mercier Lip Glace in Baby Doll, or Yves Saint Laurent Sheer Candy in Pomegranate (or Papaya, but that's kind of the color of my lips already, just makes them look smoother). Both are still technically glosses I guess, but have more of a tint than I'm used to otherwise!
honeydew / 7488 posts
I am a Clinique Chubby stick fan. It provides color but in more of a balm format. Not much staying power though, so I just reapply. It's more natural looking to me than a stain.
