I was just looking at a photo shoot our wedding photographers did and the woman in the shoot had a shirt that came up like a halter. She had a regular bra on under it.
I just think the "look" is tacky. I don't want to see your undergarments.
Do you let the world see your bra straps or do you think that's why strapless bras were invented?

haha no!! Though sometimes my one bra strap slips down my arm during the day.. Oh it drives me bonkers! It won't seem to get tight enough to stay up!

I would never wear the "wrong" bra for the shirt (regular bra with a halter/tube top/etc.), but there's definitely occasions where you might see a strap--I have a few shirts with wider necklines, some thinner strapped tank tops, etc., never at work or anything though!

I'm not a fan of exposed under garments. If they blend in with your shirt and look to be a part of your shirt, then that's fine (e.g. black tank top with black spaghetti straps). But if it's a halter top, wear a bra that allows you to change your straps to halter style or go strapless.

No and that drives me insane. Like really you don't own a strapless bra?! I had a woman come to my wedding in a tan strapless dress and a big black strapped bra.

I'm fine with it for casual, summery looks.
At a wedding we just went to a girl had a backless dress on (it was a regular backed dress with a slit down the back to show the entire back... hard to describe, it was kinda flowy) with a rEGULAR bra on underneath. So you could see the entire back of the bra with the clasps and everything. It was a blue dress and the bra was plain black.
I think i've seen Carrie Bradshaw do that. But on a regular person? unforgivable. (her exposed bra back is in the back of my favorite family picture, too!!! dangit!!! just realized i should attach the picture... here it is

In most circumstances, no way! Wear a strapless bra or a regular top. But in tank tops if they're just gonna show a little at times, I don't worry about it. I do make sure my straps are pretty, though.
And I HATE, HATE, HATE clear strap bras!!! They look tacky no matter what the circumstance.

At home yeah maybe with my pajama tanks but I'll change if my dad/brothers or in laws come over. I think it looks bummy honestly...

The only nursing bras I can find that fit right are sports bras and the dumb straps show on some of my shirts. I hate it. I can't wait to be done so I can go back to my normal bras and not have my straps showing.

I hate this!!! They are so tacky! If you can't wear the correct shirt with that bra, you either should not be wearing that shirt or you need a special bra. Period.
Same with bras you can see THROUGH your shirt. Who started this trend?!

@mrs. wagon: was just going to mention this! and if you're going to show your bra in a backless dress, it should be a pretty remarkable bra, like neon lace like Gwen Stefani or something (even though I still don't care for the look in real life). but the ultimate is a nude-colored bra with backless... barf!
