We had a banquet on Friday night last week and I decided to wear them (had bought them probably a year ago but never wore them). They were impossible to get on but once on they held everything in nicely.
I was good to go until dinner started - after sitting down and eating /drinking I was dying!!!
I finally went to the bathroom and took them off - ahhhh..... relief! 
Only then was I able to finish dinner!
Do you wear them? Do you eat in them? HOW??

I used to wear them before Dr. Oz said they were awful for your organs. I wore them even when I really didn't need a suck in, but wanted to smooth my hips and round my behind. Eating and drinking wasn't bad, but taking them off was such a pain.

Yep all the time for dressy occasions. I want it all sucked in and smooth under my dress. They aren't comfortable but the smoothness is worth it.

Haha! I've definitely taken them off in the bathroom and stuffed them in bag on more than one occasion!

@Mamaof2: I prob just picked up random stuff from TJ Maxx or something! I'm not sure ultimately if it was helpful (maybe you do need the spanx can't breathe level to really work), but it definitely smoothed things out under my clothes.

If they're that awful, go up a size.
I don't wear a skirt or dress without something underneath, and I hate nylons and tights so it's usually either spanx or some other type of support shorts (I have a pair of Flexees brand that I love, but haven't been able to find for yars)

Yes I've worn them several times post partum and for special occasions. Important to get the right size and not too tight!

The off brand ones on occasion. I actually just bought a smoother garment because my postpartum nurse recommended belly binding but the binder she gave me like terrible under clothes and catches on my pants.

I have one pair of spanx shorts that I wear on very rare occasions. They're not uncomfortable but I also don't think they do anything, maybe a sign that they're not tight enough, or something... I bought them for my wedding but wouldn't buy them again...

I bought something from target, they are shorts and they go all the way up to right under my bra. I wear them whenever I wear a dress because I hate when my thighs rub together. They smooth everything out but aren't so tight it's uncomfortable.

I have a pair I bought years and years ago. I wear them if I wear and dress and it's hot as it's more comfortable on my thighs. I busted them out last week as I felt a little self conscious of my belly in a tighter shirt. I don't mind them, I find them pretty comfortable.

@KT326: do you remember what brand you have? I'm looking for something to smooth my postpartum belly out but a lot I've tried don't go high enough and then it makes the muffin top look worse.

I wear them regularly now postpartum. I still have about 10 lbs to lose and a lot of lumpiness / sagginess / diastasis recti.

I have them and wear them for occasions like weddings or my husbands work events. So uncomfortable if you have to eat anything, but they make me feel much more put together if I'm dressed up. I could never wear them on the regular!

I've never had actual spanx but have worn other shapewear but was never that comfortable either. I just try not to wear tight clothes.

@Canoli: I can't remember which brand, but at my target I only had a couple to choose from and I think I have each one. One set doesn't go up quite as high as the other though.
