You're not alone.

I clean the covers and examine the inside pages for crustiness before we read them. We often read in bed, and I have an irrational fear of dried boogers falling on my face.

I only do if there's obviously something gross. We've checked out some board books and they seem to generally look a little dirty overall, so I did wipe those down.

I used to be grossed out by them a little, and we had so many hand me down books already, so I never brought them home. Now I don't care at all- she's as germy as the rest of them.

@Meridian: haha I've done this before with the especially gross looking ones!

I just wash my hands (and LOs!) thoroughly afterward. Kids books definitely have dried slobber and sneeze juice on them at the very least.
