We own a couple of board books but I'm kinda "bored" of them, pun intended. =P There are board books that we can borrow at the library, but I dunno....the thought is kinda gross to me. I'm okay with regular picture books for when he's older, but DS is 6.5 months old, and he'd definitely touch the books and want to put them in his mouth. However, if you ladies would borrow them, then I should keep an open mind, so....would you?

We just skip over the dingy looking ones and sometimes I'll just wipe it down with a wipe it Clorox wipe. I constantly get bored with our selection too.

We borrowed a lot of board books.. Then for the ones we really liked, we bought our own copy. It was a good way to try a lot of books out!

I wouldn't at that age. Every child is different but my LO is interested in tearing the pages and drooling on the book =( I wouldn't feel right.

We did, too, but only if they were in decent shape. If they were gross looking, I avoided them.

Probably not. I don't even go to the library anyways, and board books seem to get really grimy and harbor germs I'd think? Especially when kids always want to put them in their mouths!

I just started last week! I'm already so tired of the books we have and he is only sixteen weeks, lol. I tried to keep them away from his mouth, especially since it is such a bad flu season here. As he gets older and wants to put them in his mouth more, I will wipe them with a Clorox wipe.

No, I wouldn't. I know my LO loves to chew on her board books and assume other babies do the same. I don't even borrow adult books from the library though because I'm a germ freak.

We've been borrowing board books since DD was a few weeks old. I do try to keep them out of the kids' mouths, but that's really about teaching them to be respectful of other people's possessions.

LO rarely chewed on books as an infant, so we read regular ones mostly, but I would probably skip the board books at the library. They generally look a little too loved for me! We started using the library a lot when LO turned 1.

I dont because we have a million books, but we have used books and I feel like thats the same thing. I even buy books from the library booksale all the time. I just wipe them down before I give them to lo.

I would if the book looks to be in good condition, but I'd still keep an eye on LO to make sure it doesn't go into their mouth.

Sooooo...I'm thinking maybe I'll go borrow some decent looking ones but wipe them down first! I'll definitely keep them away from his mouth though, but I'll let him touch (after the wipe-down!)

I run the kids' room at our local library, so...
YES, please borrow our board books! We don't have the staff to wipe each one down each time they go out (100s of times each year) but I wipe the ones I take home for my little girl.
We don't worry about chew marks, so please don't let the thought your baby will "ruin" the books worry you. Even if we had to charge someone for something, it would only be about $6-9 to replace it. We would be more inclined to do that for a BRAND NEW book that was ruined entirely. And I'd probably let it slide unless it was a pattern of neglect.

Another option for cheap board books is your local thrift store- we've found some of our favorite books there, and if LO wants to do crazy things to them, they're only 70 cents so I don't feel so bad about it. I sometimes wipe them down, sometimes I forget.

we do... LO doesn't really 'play' with them except when i'm reading to him, so i don't worry too much!

We love the library!
We had plenty of books to get us through the first 6 months when she wasn't interested and didn't care it was the same book. Now that she is older we do look for some variety.

We do every couple of weeks! It's a great free outting, and LO just loves going. We've been successful with keeping books out if his mouth for the most part and if anything looks too gross we just wipe off. Best thing we ever started doing!

My LO never tried to eat any of his books, and he takes really good care of the ones we have at home. Most of the board books at my library are in bad condition so I usually don't borrow them unless my LO really wants it.

alot of P's books are ones that the library leaves on thier free rack and we take htem home. doesnt bother me at all.
