I do because they were soooo small and I love those sleepy poses where they're so scrunchy! They grow so fast those first two weeks it's amazing.
Did you do one? Do you wish you did?

We did them, and I'm so glad we did. My only regret is that I wish we scheduled them a little earlier. We were towards the end of the second week/beginning of the third week.

I wish I'd done one professionally. Things went so fast and I didn't book a package ahead of time. A friend of mine took some pictures that I love but I wish I had professional grade photos that I could blow up.

I'm so glad I did! We were in the NICU forever and I was determined that if still have a "normal" newborn shoot like everyone else. Ours was actually when he was 5 weeks adjusted...it was harder to get him to sleep, but otherwise, it worked just fine.

So, so, so glad we did them.
we don't have professional wedding photos, maternity photos, etc. but the newborn ones are just so special.
ETA-baby was 6 days old.

@Mrs Green Grass: gahhh soooo cute!!!!
I am so glad we did one! I love those pictures.

We dis not do one and I'm ok with it. I took a ton of photos and they aren't blow up frame worthy or anything, but they remind me if how very tiny she was. I do wish Dh would have taken more photos of me and her though.

We did hospital photos and a one month portrait sessions and Im pretty happy with that! I feel like hiring a photographer would have been excessive (for us, meaning I'd rather have a few good ones than many similar ones), and we brought our girl home not so sleepy, so idk if we would have been able to get through them!

We had a friend do them, and I am super glad that we did. They are more casual, but I love them!

We didn't do them and I'm happy with our decision! We took tons of pics everyday at home, and I'm more into the candid/real life shots than the posed newborn style photography. So even if I could justify the cost, I think they would just look like photos of us at home instead of the baby in baskets and other props/poses.

@Mrs Green Grass: um, i totally know your photog! too funny.
i did them myself (since i'm a photographer) and i'm glad i set up a "formal" shoot for her!

I didn't and it's one of my biggest regrets. I don't think we will be able to afford to get them done when we have another lo but I will try to at least take some myself or get a friend who has a flash camera and editing skills to do some!

I did for the first one and hope to again. Next time I'll do it a couple days sooner because it was hard to get the sleepy poses we wanted.

Yes, and totally glad we did! Still my favorite pics and we have them hanging in our home.

We did and I'm sooo glad! We hadn't planned to: there was a photographer in the hospital who stopped by and did them: brilliant business model!! We didn't have to pay until we saw the images

Yes, we did and I love them. I wish we had researched better on the photographer but the pictures still turned out a lot better than what we expected. My regret is that I didn't have enough pictures of me and DD together. There were only a few of us together.

We just did a family shoot, my son is 8 weeks. I don't regret not doing a newborn shoot, I am glad he is older and chubbier!

So glad we did them. They are pretty much the only photos of us as a family since one of is always holding the camera... Usually me.

So glad we did them! By the time we got the pictures back he already had changed so much.

We didn't do one and, actually, I'm not sad about that at all. I think I want some 1st birthday pics, though.
pomegranate / 3601 posts
They offered them in the hospital and we weren't even obligated to buy them if we didn't like them. We totally did though and we are soooo glad we have them. It is so amazing to see how much he changed in his first year.
pomelo / 5720 posts
We did them at the hospital and also at 9 days old with a professional photographer. I am so glad we did and am already planning pictures for #2!

I regretted not with DS so I did some with dd and DS was in them and they are to die for cute!
cantaloupe / 6885 posts
Not really. People gasp when I say it but I don't really get professional photography. I had them done for my wedding and have like 2 of my favourite pictures up and the rest were made in to a photo book.
I have a gazillon photos of DD on my camera and iPhone that I'll turn into a photobook and while my photog skills leave a lot to be desired, they're fine for our purposes!

We only had the hospital ones taken and we refused to buy them b/c they were ridiculously expensive. However, about 2 mos after I kept getting emails with deals to buy them and I realized I did want them so I bought two 8x10's that had 3-4 pics on each and I ended up getting ALL the newborn pics that were taken for a real good deal! I'm glad I ended up buying them, even if it was after the fact!!!

Did them and 100% will do them again. Totally worth it.

We did a very basic one while still in the hospital and used one of the photos for a birth announcement. I don't know how I feel...part of me wishes we'd done a better one with cuter outfits and props and maybe with DH and I in some shots and then another part of me just doesn't really care, haha...
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
Nope. We took some good photos on our own, and I don't know what I'd do with a ton of posed newborn pics. They aren't really my style. And we don't hang many photos- just a few framed ones here and there. I have photo albums, but I'm happy with the pics we have.
I do, however, wish I could go back in time and spend a day or two with her as a newborn.
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
We did them and I am so grateful for them. I often look back at them and am in awe that she was ever that little. We also had pictures taken of the 3 of us and some of DH holding her while playing the piano and me kissing her little nose...I am so glad to have those!
kiwi / 603 posts
We didn't do them and I really wish we had. DH had just been laid off so I couldn't justify the cost. Our pictures from those first weeks are cute but I really wanted pro quality. We'll do them for sure next time around!
grapefruit / 4988 posts
We did them and I'm glad we did so I can remember those days. That being said, I wish I had found a different photographer because it was very expensive and I didn't LOVE the photos as much as I thought I would. I wanted a few of the three of us and we only got one photo like that and it isn't flattering for any of us.

We didn't, but we invested in our first DSLR right before Wagon Jr. was born. So his newborn pictures are also kind of a peek into Wagon Sr.'s photography skill building, which I love. We like more candid photos than posed so even though there's the noise of mess and house in the background, we love it.
We did get the newborn photography in the hospital done with LMW though! It was nice to have a shot to use on the front of her baby book, but that's all we used it for.

We did them and LOVED it! He was so tiny, and now that we look at him, we're amazed he was ever that small!!! He was 4lbs 13oz at birth!
honeydew / 7230 posts
I didn't plan on doing them because we wanted to save money for a family shoot later, but now I wish we had. They are only 10 days old so I guess it's not too late, but they've already changed so much! We have millions of pics of them from the last 10ndays, but it's be nice to have pro pics too.

@Mrs Green Grass: The sweetest! What a little peanut.
We did them and I them.
