My mom is coming to visit in April. I asked her to stay longer, but she's only staying the weekend because she's so busy with work. She flies into New York about 4 times a year.
I wish my mom could live with us short-term. Maybe 6 months? I feel like I'm always behind with work, cooking, cleaning, quality time with the kids.... and she'd be such a big help. I miss my mom!!!
Do you wish your mom could live with you.... at least temporarily?

Yes! I don't see her as often as I'd like and I miss her. Plus she's great with DS.

I would love it if she could stay 1/2 a week every week 
Full time would mean we'd kill each other. I do wish she were closer, although 2.5 hours really isn't that far (especially compared to you!)

Hmm. I think if we lived far apart, I don't know if I'd want to her to move in full time but definitely visit lots of extended periods of time. Luckily my mom lives about a 2 minute drive away so she is a huge help and support!

Definitely not. I love her, but I don't want her to live with us. It would be nice if she lived closer--we used to live a 5-minute walk from each other, that would be super helpful, but not in the same house.

We would drive each other crazy if we lived in the same house, not to mention DH. But I wouldn't mind her being a 15-30 minute drive away.

Absolutely! I live about 3.5 hours away from my parents and would love having them close-by! Sometimes I daydream about my mom coming to live with us while we have little kids...she'd probably drive me nuts (ha), but there is nothing like having your own mom helping out with your kids!

@char54: my mom is about a 10 minute drive from us and it's the best! Too far for her to just walk over but easy enough that she can stop by for lots of short visits (sometimes she comes just to drop off some food). When my husband travels for work my mom comes and stays with me and is a huge help...I love it

I would love for my Mom to live with us! In fact, she stayed with us for five weeks after DS was born to help with DD. DH, he might not like that, but I would! hahaha She also lives far away.... so maybe if she lived closer I wouldn't want her to live with us.

No. She moved 1,000 miles away last year, and I do wish she lived closer. At the same time, I don't think we could lived together.

Heck no. I haven't been home for more than a couple days at a time since I was 18 for a reason. But like @allison: I hope my kid feels differently about me lol!

Nope But my mom lives 15 minutes away. She doesn't help with cooking and cleaning anymore, she did when LO was a newborn. But she is always there for babysitting when I need her, and I love having my privacy.

i think that's wonderful that you have a relationship with your mom where wanting her to stay with you for 6 months is something that you want. not many people can say that!
i love my mom and she would do anything for me, but when i saw the title of this thread, my immediate reaction was "hell no."

My mom lives across the country and we only see each other once a year usually. I would love if she came to visit more but I think our relationship is better because we are not under the same roof!

I think I have it best. My parents live next door to us. So we have dinner with them every night. My mom gives the kids bathes sometimes they do their bedtime stories. It's great, because then they go home at night and DH and I can still have time together. I love it!

No way! My Mom has mental issues that she refuses to get help fr. She has some sort of bipolar or personailty disorder. She is a crazy lady. We do not have a relationship.

My parents live with us and we love it! It's sooo much help having them around to watch LO during the day while were at work. DH leaves before i do for work in the morning so im pretty much all on my own in the mornings. each morning before work I get all her bottles ready and clothes and then pass her off to my dad who then passes her off my mom when he leaves for work. I really don't know what we would do without them.

Nope. Uh uh. No freaking way. I love my mom. I do. I really really do.... she also drives me nuts. She means well, we just are on such different wave lengths sometimes. Okay, alot of the time. I moved out as soon as I could to move in with Mr. Hedgie (We met young) because my mom stressed me out. We have a much better relationship now that we don't have to be around eachother so much! Its more fun to be around her and do things! And for me, she is always a 10 minute drive away if I really need her.
With that being said, if I had to choose between my mom living with us and Mr. Hedgies mom, I would take mine in a heartbeat. His mom stresses me out after 5 minutes in the same room!

No! I love my Mom and with a newborn would love her to be closer alto help more but DH and I both couldn't imagine living with my parents again. We need to be our own family.

We have considered it. My mom needs a lot of help on her own. Now that she lives blocks away it's not so bad. If we were rich we'd buy a big house & have a small apartment in the basement for her. Then we can keep a close eye on her & she would be able to help with any future grand babies while maintaining independence. She would have to get rid of her dogs though...
