Thinking about hiring a nanny for some additional help during the day but DH will be home.
I would think having a parent a home would be a bit different (service or care wise). DH would be able to help.

I have been the nanny in that situation but the parent didn't really help with LO care. They were just around doing chores/work. I enjoyed it, though they also did some work out of the home as well so they weren't there all the time but most of the time.

I mostly work from home (75% of the time) and yes, we have a nanny. I work 3 or 3.5 days (25 ish hours) and usually 2 from home. She works 30-35 hours a week. She started when DS2 was 9m; DS1 goes to preschool two of the days and the other day she has both boys.
When she is here, she's in charge, with a few exceptions (end of day if I start cooking or something). I don't pitch in or help her except if someone gets hurt and really needs me, and we tag team getting DS1 out the door for school since my husband leaves before the kid get up.

Isn't your DH a SAHD right now? Or will he be switching to WAHD PT?

For my DD's first year we had a nanny that came every morning while I was WAH. I started working again at 4.5 months PP and the nanny staid with us until she started daycare at 13 months. I did not help at all, that was the whole point of the nanny. But they went out every day, even as the weather got colder (very walkable city with lots to do), I couldn't work with them at home.
