I really do. I really don’t want to raise a child who thinks that they are entitled to everything. We don’t buy him a ton of stuff (were on a strict budget) so most of his toys are used (like 90%). We just bought him a used playhouse and my hubby goes to pick it up and buys him two more things the guy was selling....Ahh. He’s only 14 months so he has no idea but i know we can’t be doing that in the future. We just get excited to get him things and the feelings of nostalgia that come with it when buying your child a toy that you had as a child.
it's hard though because obviously we want to give our child the world through multiple accounts (material, experience and love) but i know giving to much is detrimental to his upbringing.
ahhh maybe I’m totally overanalyzing it but i worry!

I do and I don't. I just don't think it's in our nature to spoil a child to the point where they feel entitled. And we just don't have the money!

Yes, we worry about this too. LO is an only child (and will be an only child) and is the first (and only) grandchild on both sides. My MIL is extremely generous with LO - to put it mildly.
Our plan isn't to limit what she receives as gifts from grandparents (since we can't really do too much of that), but to instill in LO a sense of responsibility to our community and to others. Even now, we already go through her old clothes and toys and donate them to a homeless shelter for women and children. Sure LO isn't old enough to understand yet, but she's getting used to giving being a normal, regular and required part of her life.

I think about this too, and worry I'm going to spoil him too much. I love buying him toys and things.

Nope. But that's because we plan to do a lot to make sure she doesn't feel entitled.

I worry about it but not too much...I'm more worried about teen pregnancy and drug/alcohol abuse.
I have seen spoiled children from wealthy homes and from not so wealthy homes...some parents do everything for their kids and give in to what they want...basically the kid is never really told "no"...from chores, school work, food choices, TV, etc. I don't want to raise a child that thinks the world revolves around them...or that my job is to give them whatever they want.

Yes & no.
We've never gotten G "alot" of things so I didn't worry about being spoiled by abundance BUT since he was the only one for a long time we still have occasionally found ourselves in entitlement stages with him.
It's been alot better lately but there were a few months last year that he didn't get a single new thing & by new I mean new to him. After a day when G asked me if he could have something & his response to my "No" was "Well how much money do you have in the bank?! *insert entitled look*" DH called/texted both sets of grandparents, both aunts, & the great grandparents telling them G couldn't get *anything* new until he started being more grateful & less expectant. It took about 4 months & he almost didn't have a birthday that year, but it worked & he's been alot better!
Now we just do periodic limiting of things... If he's getting to expectant about something we just stop doing/buying that thing. lol
