We usually drop LO off at a relative's house. I wish they would come to us because packing stuff for a little one is a lot of work!

We don't live near family and LO is just 5 months so we haven't had too many babysitter opportunities. Both times though, our friends who watched her came to our house.
You're right that it is SO MUCH easier to have them at your own place with all of the toys, gear, crib, and comforts.
Also, in my years of babysitting as a teenager I only ever went to the family's house to watch their children. I wonder if it would be different if we did live near family. My guess is that if the grandparents were watching her during the day, we would end up taking her over there rather than them coming to our house. I would definitely try very hard to keep LOat our house if it was during the evening/bedtime though - the routine is just too important! -
I've done both, I used to have a sitter that came to our place once a week. Now we usually bring LO to my parents house.
