I'm doing the dishes now, because our cat woke me an hour ago with her meowing and I jolted up to shush her before she woke up the whole family!!
Now I'm wide awake...
Do your pets ever wake up you or your family?

As a teen, my family had a little dog (about 15 lbs). My bedroom door didn't latch properly, and if you weren't up by 6:30 she would slam her body against the door, jump in my bed and lick my face until I got out of bed. And when she started barking (birds, tree branches, blowing leaves, people in neighborhood) there was no amount of shushing that would get her to stop. Yeah, she woke me up a few times!
Sorry about your noisy cat! Wish my reason for being up early was because of a cute kitty!

Ughhh...yes. We got a dog a few weeks ago and she's a barker. It's great that she's protective but she's woken LO up from several naps. It's making me CRAZY!

All the time!
The barking is the worst way to be woken up. I usually get up well before DH, and sometimes, later in the morning, our dog sneaks upstairs and scratches on the bedroom door. If it's not closed all the way, she'll push it open and jump into bed. I'm pretty sure DH doesn't mind being woken up that way, as the dog is so affectionate and cuddly.

Yes, everyone here likes to demand their breakfast (the dogs whine and the cats meow). Once they sense motion from you all bets are off!

My moms cat is so loud. I house sat for them in April and averaged less sleep than I have with my newborn!
My dog will wake me all night if my husband is sleeping downstairs. So annoying, especially because he will sleep downstairs so his snoring doesn't keep me up..then the dog does instead. Lose/lose.

All the freaking time! Our dog has a lip licking problem.

One of my cats is anti-let-her-mama-sleep. She's locked out of the bedroom at night because she will lick and bite my nose to get me to wake up (plus, she bites DH's fingers while he sleeps). And now that she's locked out, she paws and paws and paws AND PAWS at the door while meowing to get let in.
My other cat could care less we even exist.

Everyday! We have 2 cats and my girl cat will lay in bed and cuddle with us forever and not make a sound. But my boy cat, he walks around the house howling anytime we are asleep past 8! It sounds like he is dying of hunger even though he always still has food in his dish. He just wants his soft food that we give them in the morning.

My dog is terrified of thunderstorms, so will always bark like mad when he hears thunder, even if it is the middle of the night, but it's hard to blame him because he is just scared. FYI-- putting a leash on him and holding it while you go back to sleep totally calms him down- thanks, Cesar Milan!
Otherwise he is usually pretty chill in the morning but he does sometimes like to wake us up on the weekends. He'll walk back and forth from my side of the bed to DH's, which is loud because his nails are a little long and we have wood floors. Then he'll start putting his front paws on the bed and staring at us a panting-- by this time we are both definitely awake but pretend to be sleeping because once he sees we are really up he goes crazy. He has been getting better about that lately, thank goodness. I have to say I'd be way more pissed about him waking a baby than us!

Yes! We have a system now. When my husband gets up for work he send the big dog to the living room and leaves the little one in the bedroom. The big one will pace and whine and wake me up otherwise. The little dog sleeps as long as I do. So now I don't get waken up very often.

Yeah my cat climbs on me to wake me up. Just me. He just wants snuggles

Definitely, our dog wakes us up every morning bc he needs to go out! Usually about 6 am.

Our dog is pretty lazy in the morning, usually she is the last out of bed. She will sometimes wake us up in the middle of the night for different reasons - usually because she decides she wants to play or eat.

Our turd chihuahua is about to be put through some type of boot-camp training for doing this...It's not going to fly with a newborn so we're trying to do something about it!

Ugh yes, our dog does! He makes me so mad when he wakes LO up, he barks all the time for no reason!

Our dogs only bark at night if there's a bear or a coyote in our yard. And the kids pretty much sleep through their barking, anyway.
DD wakes up more often due to DS than she does because of the dogs!

Yup! Our cat will meow really loudly, or jump on our bed and wake me up. I think I'm more sensitive to her meows than DH though

My dog usually tries to wake us up between 8-10am. Or sometimes she'll sleep until one of us gets out of bed.

UGH- we just rescued a cat and it woke me up by pouncing on my pillow and meowing this morning.

We have two cats. One is 5lbs and the other is 8.
They may as well be elephants. They wake everyone up all the time.

Two big dogs, luckily they were here before LO so she is used to them barking, though we do try to shush them if she is sleeping. They also wake me up by TAKING OVER THE BED!!! We kick them off, they jump back up, repeat.

Yep, they're lil dogs (12 & 16 lbs) but our yorkie is a light sleeper, early waker

Ours are super protective and will bark at noises. I'm sure that will be less than fun one day with kids, but they'll just have to learn to sleep through it or deal with it -- I'm a big fan of the parenting idea that kids should be able to sleep through some reasonable amounts of noise. We aren't going to suddenly become super quiet people...especially DH who can't whisper to save his life anyway. The dogs aren't that bad, it's usually just unusual or loud noises.
