I would not. Hubs knows my email password and I know his, but I'd never have a shared one. I don't know why - I find the concept weird. BIL and his wife have one and as if it's not enough for them to live together, work together and literally be together 24/7, they share email too and don't have their own.
I get it if you have one for like...gathering wedding rsvps or something like that, but normal, everyday use?

No way. I don't want to have to sort thru emails to figure out which ones are for me. I have an aunt and uncle with a joint account, which I understand bc neither uses email much. But I always wonder when I see this with young couples. Is it a trust thing? I don't get it.

No. It kinda annoys me when couples share email addresses. Even worse is when they share Facebook accounts.
My DH knows my email passwords and I know his, but we don't routinely check each others accounts.

@Zbug: I know for sure for her it's a trust thing. She had issues with his being friends with his ex-gf before they got married, even though he's never been unfaithful, and she cheated on her ex-fiance. Hypocrisy, much?

Nope.
We have access to each other's stuff if we need it, but no way would I want to share an email.
Aside from collecting our rsvps for the wedding, etc. but not everyday use.

No. I hate when people cease to exist as individuals once they get married. I'm still a person, entitled to (among other things) my own email and Facebook account.

I think it's pretty weird. My hubby and best friend recently planned a surprise for my 30th birthday this past year, how could they have done it if we had a shared account?!?! 
We also have access to each other's email and share a bank account and all that good stuff, but for real, if I'm emailing you something personal, maybe I don't want your husband to be reading it too! Same with Facebook. Don't get it. We also have separate friends that wouldn't overlap. It just doesn't make sense for us.

No way. I don't see the point. Like others, I've got nothing sinister to hide, but sometimes I DO complain about DH to my BFF via gchat and e-mail.
Seriously, though, we know each other's passwords just in case we need to access something, but I can't imagine he'd want to sort through my e-mails from deals sites, and I wouldn't want to sort through his about engineering school.

Nope! We have each others passwords so if I locked out of my account or there was an emergency (although what the eff kind of emergency requires him to see my email? LOL I guess if I died?!) anywhodiddle...NO. I don't have a shared email or facebook and don't want to, not because I have anything to hide, but it's just strange to me...? I mean, the complaining I do to my girlfriends about him via email are things he's quite aware of, I just don't say things quite as...blunt to him

Ehm...uhh....why? Email is gratis! Not to mention he has no interest in reading notes from my friends, and vice versa. In addition to personal accounts, we both have work accounts with private/confidential info (I'm a teacher and he's an attorney), so we shouldn't be able to read each other's email in that regard anyway. PS @babyjmama, I hear you about the complaining!

Nope. We don't even have each other's passwords (well, we've told them to each other when we needed to get into our email and were busy/didn't have hands free, but I couldn't tell you what his is anymore, I forgot it almost immediately. And knowing DH, he did the same). We just don't roll like that.

We don't have each others passwords even, I have no desire to ever look in his email. But if he wanted mine I would give it to him, I have nothing in there to hide.
We do have a joint one that I started for wedding rsvp's and I've used it for some e-bills so we both have access to it. But I can't even tell you the last time either of us used it.
For personal emails or FB it is just weird to have a joint account.

We created a "joint" account so we could sign up for various services as a family (eg. Turbo tax, iTunes) but we each use our own email accounts for correspondence with friends and family. Gosh I can just picture how annoyed I would be if we shared an account and my husband read mail and then I couldn't figure out based on the read/unread flags if I had read it or not.

We have a joint one that our Internet provider gave us, but we only use it for things like bills, our HOA correspondence, home warranty stuff, etc. Everything else we have our own email accounts for - a shared personal email account would be weird!

DH gets so much junk mail/spam it would drive me wild. We know each other's passwords, but separate accounts all the way. It annoys me that my parents have a joint account.

No, and our marriage is happier that way. My husband goes on deleting sprees then has to ask if I have a copy of something that he got rid of. We have access to each other's accounts, but never really use it.
Having interviewed prospective employees before, I always found it extremely unprofessional to give out a shared address as a means of contact. Since it's free, I never understood why they didn't make a work application account.

No, and I agree with others that it is a weird blending of identities. Does my husband really care that Banana Republic is having a flash sale? He does not. And what if I want to tell my sister that his pile of dirty laundry is really bugging me today? None of his business. I think that everyone needs their own space for things like that, and I don't care for the creepy checking in on each other vibe of shared email/facebook accounts.

We have a joint one as well as separate personal ones. We use the joint one for family stuff like bank, insurance, etc accounts that are managed as a family and our personal for everything else. I don't think it is that weird, though. Every relationship and situation is different - it is likely one or both of them are not big internet users.

I think we should create a joint one for household bills etc, it would be easier. But i think general joint accounts for young IT literate people are weird and joint fb is just creepy!

I feel like they are for our parents' generation where often only one spouse knew how to use the computer.
Although the idea if using it for bills and services is a good one. Though I doubt DH would remember the password anyway.

No way!! My ILs have a shared account though (even though both are super tech savvy). Its annoying because sometimes I just want to email MIL but I feel obligated to say "what's up FIL!" In my email because he's probably reading it too lol.

No way! We know each others passwords, but I cant say I have ever checked his (beyond him asking me to for something). I see absolutely no reason to share an email and social media accounts.

We have both a joint email account and our own. We have joint stuff (daycare, bills, etc.) go to the joint account, and personal goes to our personal account. I don't know DHs password and he doesn't know mine. Works for us! I don't see it as a big deal...
