Today is the Day of the Doctor! Where are you watching ? How are you celebrating?
I got baby to say "doctor" the British way! There's a bar in Brooklyn with a tardis and there's a weeping angel out front. Awesome!!!

I've been like a kid anticipating Christmas for weeks! Watched all of the trailers and mini-episodes, set pictures, read all the speculation...
Unfortunately, though, I don't have cable so I'm either going to try hooking up my laptop to the TV and streaming it (the timing would be kinda eh for our evening, though...it would in the middle of E's bedtime routine) or I'll wait until it's on Amazon Instant Video (hopefully tomorrow).
That bar sounds fun!

@lovehoneybee: the bar is super cool! There was a crazy line. People were lining up at 10am. Madness!

@katsupgirl: By the way I'm not sure we can "summon" bees to threads if they haven't already commented there--so don't think the others are ignoring you!

@katsupgirl: ME!!
We're not doing anything special though - just watching the show!

@lovehoneybee: thanks! I wasn't sure if it worked or not. I remember seeing a thread about it. Thought I'd give it a shot.
@Adira: I knew I was forgetting people! I opted to just watch in my house. No lines for me.

Thanks for posting this. It's BIL's favorite show and I needed a reminder to get him something Dr. Who related for Xmas.

It was awesome! I'm really happy with the way Moffat went about it. Looking forward to the Christmas special!
I loved it when 10 said, "I don't want to go." I die.

@abbydabbydoodlebug: OMG! There were so many neat nuances they played off of. I loved the War doctor. John Hurt was perfection!

@cascademom: yeah John hurt was great! I loved how sassy he was! Lol. "What are you going to do? Build a cabinet?" Love it. There were so many moments in there. Dh and I are probably going to watch it again.

John Hurt was fantastic! I loved the interplay of the three doctors. They played off each other superbly.
When I first saw Matt smith in the episode it reminded me that he only has one more to go. That was a bit sad.
I would've loved more cameos but that might have taken away from the story.

I thought it was brilliant! I was staying away from this thread because I went to a wedding yesterday & couldn't watch until today.
I thought John Hurt was great and it made me feel around 1% better about Matt Smith leaving, because I could like another Doctor. It was great fun to have Ten and Eleven (or, I suppose Eleven & Twelve technically!) interact. The part where they sat down in the bunker area and had synchronized movements was classic!
I was happy with how they used "Rose", too, and thought the plot was clever. It was nice to have an episode that was so positive and actually changed the tone of the show to be much more upbeat without erasing the previous storylines. I love that the Doctor hasn't been running *from* his past all this time, by running *toward* his future/home.
I'll still be wrecked come Christmas I'm sure!

I'm a Tennant fan and I liked that they gave him a proper goodbye episode. I didn't know how the show worked and was totally taken aback when 9 regenerated. I was ready for 10 to regenerate but I can totally avoid his goodbye ep if I want. I wish they weren't bundling the end of 11 in the Xmas ep.
Was there more to scarf girl other than the scarf?

@katsupgirl: I didn't know how the show worked either and was also taken aback when 9 regenerated, but I loved Tennant from pretty much the get-go. I had a much, MUCH harder time accepting Tennant-->Smith, in large part because I was watching on Netflix, and at the time they had the Specials (like Waters of Mars and the End of Time) categorized as Specials, not in the normal queue. So I went straight from Journey's End to The Eleventh Hour and was all "WFT?" and it really colored how I viewed Smith, even after I figured out the mistake and caught up. I've accepted him now, and think he's brilliant (how spoilery can I be here?)
SPOILERS IF YOU HAVEN'T WATCHED IT YET!
As for the 50th I was not disappointed. I would totally watch a show just of Tennant and Smith interacting as the Doctor.
Some personal highlights (not quite in order):
-Clara snapping closed the TARDIS (well less of a highlight and more of a "wait, what? when did that happen?"
-Context of Tennant's comment about Eliazabeth I to the Ood in The End of Time, and her reaction to him in The Shakespeare Code.
-Ten giving his CV to a rabbit.
-The look on Tennant's face when Smith pulls out his screwdriver and the quip about compensating.
-I loved the paintings. Since they looked cool on my old TV screen I bet they looked awesome on a big screen in 3D.
-I'm not convinced The Moment as Bad Wolf wasn't JUST Bad Wolf....but I liked seeing Billie either way (unashamed Rose/9-10 shipper). The look on 10, and then 11's, face when Hurt mentioned the Bad Wolf made me sad.
-"Timey wimey" "I have no idea where he picks that up!"
-"What are you going to do, assemble cabinets at them?"
-"Sand shoes and Gramps"
-River's red pumps in the Archive.
-10 and 11 in the Black Archive office--the simultaneous sitting, feet on table. Made me smile. Those two are really dynamite together.
-The Vortex Manipulator. Oh Jack...
-I loved the idea that all of the Doctors got together to change history.
-And that resolution! It changes everything for the future without changing a thing about the past. Elegant.
-More than the two above, even if the Moment had been deployed and history NOT changed, I love love loved 10 and 11 showing up to help Hurt press the Big Red Button. That hit me so hard, the idea that even knowing how much they were changed by it and how much they regret it that they can still recognize it was the right thing to do and do it again. That hit hard, and part of me wishes it had ended there.
-I'm sad Eccleston was only there with stock footage. I understand there was some...hard feelings there, but he was my first doctor and I missed seeing his big ears.
-Speaking of big ears, I grinned when Hurt was regenerating and said something about wanting smaller ears.
Overall, I give it a 9/10. (10/11? )

-Clara snapping closed the TARDIS was awesome! that scene made me sad because i was just getting used to Clara with 11 and clearly theres so much more to explore
-Ten giving his CV to a rabbit. -- Thought that was hilarious!
-The look on 10, and then 11's, face when Hurt mentioned the Bad Wolf made me sad. --me too
::DITTO::
- the resolution was really clever. I watched end of time (10's last ep) and it totally worked with the resolution. Brilliant!
I could've used more rose and 10 action. All I got was longing and sadness. I loved seeing Billie piper though.
