We have the bug one. I like to take it on road trips because it is self-contained and squishes down pretty small, but otherwise our kids don't play with it that much. I think kids are most interested in putting things in/taking things out between 9-18 months, but the size of the bugs makes it difficult for that age group to remove them. DS was probably 15 months or so before he could consistently get the bugs out by himself, and now at 19 months I feel like he's too old for this toy. Like I said, I still like it for road trips, but it just hasn't been that popluar in my house.

We have the picnic basket one, I bought it as a Christmas present when LO was 6 months old. He liked listening to me shake the juice and ice cream (they have bells in them), but he didn't really start playing with the pieces on his own until he was closer to a year old. Now he is figuring out he can take apart the pieces of the sandwich and put them back together again, and he's just now starting to put things back into the basket. Only thing I don't like about the pieces is the material attracts lint and cat fur very easily, so I just have to remember to de-fuzz everything with a lint brush once every couple weeks.
