If you don't, what do you think of the look? If you do, is it a pain to decorate around?
These are a few pictures of the only home for sale in our desired location that will meet our family's needs - and we have less than a month until we move out of current home. I'm just not sure about the trim!

i would probably pay to have it all painted white. i had to paint trim in one room in our house this past summer and it was torture... but that wouldn't be a deal breaker for me or a reason not to purchase the house!

Well, maybe it's because I have white trim, but I LOVE the dark trim. Our white trim is such a pain in the ass. I'm over it. I think the dark trim adds such a rich look!

@Mamaof2: @Mrs. J: DH and I are purposely moving to get out of a project home - we are done done done with painting and fixes and repairs and whatnot. 
But that would be an option.
I do LOVE the floor plan and it's on a nice sized fenced corner lot, has laundry upstairs. My two issues with the home are the dark trim and the fact that they swapped the appliances for black. If we buy it (have to decide today!!) we'll swap the appliances for stainless before we move in. The trim isn't so easily fixed but doesn't bother DH since it runs throughout house as @looch: mentioned.
I feel like I'm being so ticky tacky about the stupid trim.

@coopsmama: You can fix trim, not a layout. So if you love the house otherwise, do it. Just hire someone to paint!

I think it looks beautiful! White trim is such a pain in the arse to keep clean; if the whole house is done in dark trim I would absolutely leave it as is.

@loki: Bahaha. I feel you on the painting trim. We did that a little bit in our just sold home (to freshen it up) and my gosh NEVER again. I would hire for sure.
@.twist.: That's a good point. This probably won't need to be scrubbed as often as white! I just love the look of crisp white.

@coopsmama: Honestly, I hate our white trim so much. I would change it RIGHT NOW, except that a. we can't afford it and b. a dark trim wouldn't go with our hideous cabinets. haha

@coopsmama: in all honesty, we had all the trim in our house painted white, but we were working with wood that wasn't in the greatest condition. It looks really good in your photos though!

We have dark trim and are working to paint/update it.
That trim looks like a nice dark color, ours has a bit of red and is a very 80's stain color. Yuck.
A few things, check the condition of the baseboards, are they worth painting? Or would you just rip them off and replace? Check the state of the doors, are they solid wood (easy to paint) or a veneer.

I don't normally like dark trim but I think that trim looks really nice! If you like everything about the house I would get it! (I agree - stainless steel appliances would look MUCH better)

Dark trim isn't really my style but I think it looks great in the pictures you posted, and definitely suits the look of the house. If you like everything else in the house then I wouldn't let trim colour hold you back.
I had grey trim in one of my previous houses and ended up changing it to white, it wasn't that hard or expensive to get someone out to do it.

@coopsmama: I love the island and kitchen. Do you know if the house was renovated to open that room up? Wondering because of the line across the ceiling. If so, make sure you get maybe an architect or someone to make sure that everything is still sound if they removed walls.

If it's the wood color and not paint, please don't paint it. I've spent my entire adult life removing white paint from beautiful wood in craftsman homes! I think it looks lovely, but then again I'm a craftsman girl

I love the dark trim! Personally, I'm a fan of white, but that trim looks so nice and it goes well with the cabinetry. White trim is such a pain to keep clean anyway.
If the trim is all that's holding you back, I say go for it. It can always be painted, and I know you aren't looking for a project, so it could wait for a long time.

@T.H.O.U.: That's a great point and I never would have thought of that except this home is brand new, never lived in! It was supposed to be the model home for a development in the area but then they slightly modified the design and had to sell it - that's why they swapped out the black appliances for the stainless ones, too, unfortunately.
@alohaorchid: True, white probably wouldn't even suit the rest of the house. We'd probably just need to embrace it.

@.twist.: That's how I feel about the nasty old trim in our current home. I feel like I need to stop griping about the trim on this new house - it's seriously my only hang up. Such a FWP right?! I know it's so much better than our current home so should just be content with that. I just had this vision that our new house would feel light and white and airy and nothing on the market right now is that way! Gah.

@Mrs. Jacks: So is my husband! He loves the craftsman look. We don't have many original craftsman style homes in our area and he is constantly looking at homes for sale in other cities that are updated craftsmans.
@avivoca: You're right - it's completely move in ready. That's the best part of all.

@Mrs. J: I love the layout, yes. It's great. 4 bedrooms, 3 baths, open concept downstairs, nice location. We aren't in a great position to wait although we could. My parents have a place we could stay (indefinitely) but we'd have to get storage for all of our things and I think the lack of continuity would be hard for our kids. (18 months and 5 months.) Also, my parents guest house only has ONE bedroom which would be a logistical nightmare with our family haha. Renting would put us in a one year lease which we don't want.

What about factoring in the paint trim into your budget? It should only take a professional a day or two to complete if the house was empty. If you can't wait and you are really hung up on it, then I would go head and get it painted now!

I think this is beautiful and can totally be decorated around as long as you are okay with browns/creams instead of blacks/grays.

If it really bugs you though, you can always paint it. (jk I'm trippin. was on my phone :P). I think it's lovely and hopefully you guys make an offer so I can see more of the house!

We have the same color trim and doors in our house. We lived in an old home so our trim and doors are really old wood craftsman-style. I think the only tip is to not buy any more 'brown' furnishings. We have a dark brown couch and non-painted wood furnishings that we purchased before we moved into our current apartment and I think it is too much brown and wood. So, I like the color trim and would not paint so long as your furnishings are a different color/style.

Our house has dark trims and I really liked it because it matches our black window frames and beam accents. I like the contrast!
But we need to replace our windows (for more energy efficient ones) DH finally won out - we're switching to white windows and plan to change our trims to match.

@chopsuey: Well we DID make an offer but it was low so I'm sure they'll counter and we could back out -- hence my second thoughts on the dark trim hehe! I'm second guessing everything.
