We are currently in a rental that has cream colored carpeting so we haven't been too good about allowing LO run around without her diaper. The last two times we tried, she peed within a couple minutes! I'm wondering how bad it is that she has a diaper on all the time...

We don't very often, just because my dog has tried to lick the pee before, and that makes me want to barf.

Admittedly, we don't really. Occasionally I'll let her be free for a few minutes. She doesnt really seem to care, and we haven't had any diaper rash issues or anything so I don't feel too bad.

only for a few minutes after bath time. i feel bad because he so obviously loves it but i always forget during the day.

@MsMini: Our dog hasn't tried to lick it but he would sniff the spots where she peed for days afterwards, which grossed me out because it made me feel like I didn't do a good enough job cleaning.
@hilsy85: @boots: Glad I'm not the only one! LO doesn't really have a chronic diaper rash problem either so I figure why stress myself out!

When P was younger we didn't. She just went WAY too often and up through month 5 she still had some pretty gnarly poo... I occasionally tried the chux pads but she just bunched them all up & ended up on the carpet anyways. She gets alot more diaper free time now though since she doesn't go as often.

Nope, we never do. Big fan of diapers (and pee-free floors). LO has never had diaper rash issues.

Her diaper-free time is rather limited. We take baths together, and afterwards, I lay her out on a waterproof mat in the bathroom for a few minutes while I dry off and change. I also let her air out a bit during changes, but it's not for an extended amount of time. DD has only had one rash in her life, and it was due to a lactose sensitivity. Other than that, no issues. If she develops another rash, we'll up our diaper-free time, just like we did the first time she experienced one.

Nope, just a few mins after bath. She hasn't had much diaper rash at all so I'm not too worried about it.

No diaper free time and she has never had diaper rash. We use gdiapers (cloth for the first 6 months and flushables from 8 months to now)

Nope. Only in between diaper changes and bathtime. He had diaper rash when he was younger, but not for the past month.

It never occurred to me to give M diaper-free time unless she has a diaper rash. She hasn't had one in a long time.

Are you supposed to do that? I thought that was only if there was a problem like diaper rash.
C's only diaper free time is after bath while I dry her off and during diaper changes I let her bum dry after I wipe it. She doesn't seem to care and just get teeny spots of diaper rash now and then which clear up when I put butt paste on it.

I only did it once for 39 mins before bath and she peed all over the blanket. Luckily it didn't leak through to the rug.

Nope. Her reaction to bring cold is to pee. I have to rush her to her diaper after her bath to avoid having to wash or clean up pee. I also hardly let her hang out in just a diaper. She gets cold so easily since we have to keep our downstairs cooler so our upstairs isn't a furnace...

Nope, only during a bad bout of diaper rash and only rarely then. I'm a fan of not cleaning up pee off my floor.

I really haven't, other than a few minutes when she is running around/ running away . . . never had any problems with diaper rash *knockonwood*

I did it once when he had a really bad diaper rash, which was entirely my fault. I was using too much detergent on the cloth diapers.

@Foodnerd81: I didn't think you were supposed to do it until my mom and I were traveling with lo, and she was in disbelief that I didn't let lo take her diaper off. She said "How uncomfortable do you think it must be to wear a diaper all the time?" And then I felt guilty...

Not very often! But we're coming into summer here so the plan is to let her roam around diaper free in summer since it will be too hot for clothes, will just have to watch pretty closely!

I do it for hours a day, but I always stick her on a towel or a blanket so I can toss it in the wash if she pees.

We gave her diaper free time once when she had diaper rash, but other than that she only gets diaper-free time around bath time.

When she had a really bad, persistent nappy rash around 12 months old, we let her crawl around on the balcony outside (it's a big, wrap around balcony, shaded by the trees) nappy free for 20 minutes a day until it cleared up. Other than that, we never give nappy free time.

Never. She hasn't had any diaper rash yet so I haven't really had a reason to.
