We never introduced a lovey to LO (9 months). He sleeps fine (most of the time) so is there any other reason to introduce one? He has a Spongebob that he carries in the car but it isn't safe for the crib.
If LO does have a lovey, what is it?

Mine doesn't! I'm glad you posted this, I was starting to feel like maybe I was denying her something.

L doesn't really have a lovey. She has 3 bunnies that she travels with - she likes them a lot and talks to them, but doesn't sleep with them or get sad if we don't have them.
She has a lion that she sleeps with, but wouldn't even notice if he wasn't there.
So, I keep pushing, but she keeps not caring... haha!

Nope. She's got a stuffed puppy that seems to be her favorite, but she hasn't gotten seriously attached to anything. I tried, actually, during night weaning and pacifier weaning, but to no avail.

No loveys here! She had a hippo phase but it only lasted for a few days.

Neither of mine ever did. Mr. T says it's because they nurse(d) for so long. Whatever
There's no real need for one, but they can be helpful transitional objects for some kids depending on circumstances. I think you'll know if he might benefit from something like that, and, otherwise, just enjoy not having to stress about if something special gets damaged, lost, or needs to be washed.
Ellie finally decided that her monkey was special, but she'll go weeks not knowing where it is. Then she gave Lorelei one that's the same but with different fabric, which Lorelei named "Kiki Towalker," and has also declared to be special (but just like big sis she could care less where it is most of the time).

@Mrs. Twine: hahah i love that! I wonder if nursing really is the reason. We extended nurse and lots of plushies he loves but no lovely. Maybe our boobs are the lovey.

@MrsMccarthy: I do think there's a lower incidence of loveys in kids who come from extended nursing/attachment parenting households. But I don't think that means anything negative on the other end. Sometimes I have the odd moment where I'd love for Kiki Towalker to be an acceptable stand-in for a breast!

We've tried introducing a lovey at 7 months, and continued to try and give different types of loveys - blankie, stuffed animals, etc but LO never seemed to take to one. Now at 23 months, still no lovey, but she uses her hair (or mine when it's available) to self soothe and go to sleep.

Mine is obsessed with her wubbanubs! I think one day we will have to do surgery and remove the paci part

@rahlyrah: ETA: My LO didn't have a lovey until right around she when started daycare at 13 months. Her lovey is a Gund lamby:
We started offering a lamby to help with her nighttime sleep.

Nope (14 mo), but we do keep a Wubanub in the crib. The last couple of days, though, DD has been obsessed with a soft Correlle doll that previously sat untouched in her toy bin.

No lovey - I figure he will naturally turn one of his toys into a lovey if he ever decides he wants one.

I'm hoping this will be my LO's lovey! When I was a baby my grandpa brought me a teddy bear (who I named Roy-- random hah) in the hospital when I was born and my parents put it in my crib. I slept with it literally until I moved in with my husband lol. It's still sitting in my closet and it means so much to me to have something my grandpa gave me.
At my shower last weekend my dad gave my LO this stuffed koala because he wanted my daughter to have "a Roy" too. It's so soft! I hope she loves it as much as I loved my Roy.

It took a long time for my LO to develop any sort of affinity towards a material object to carry to bed. Around 14 months, she got a little stuffed owl which is now her bedfellow. Before that we tried to introducing and encouraging blankets or other stuffed toys that were suitable, but nothing stuck. I wouldn't worry about…your LO will probably latch onto something if he desires it at some point.

@MrsH: We have multiple lambies, just in case! She has several big ones for her crib, and several small ones that she takes to daycare. I cried the other day imagining myself sleeping with one of her lambies when she goes off to college (umm, in 17 years!)

@MsLipGloss: I'm going to have to look for these - they are adorable. Awww *hug* don't age her that quickly

Nope! I was just thinking about this the other day...but I haven't seen a real need for one with G yet, so we're holding off. She really isn't attached to any of her toys yet.

LO has her first stuffed animal she is attached to now at age 2. No interest before that and I didn't try to make this happen, it just did one day.

DD1 never had a lovey, although I tried. At night now, at 6 yo she bring certain stuffed animals to bed with her, but not one in particular she's attached to.
DD2 never really had one either, but lately has been requesting different blankies (like an A&A blanket) in her car seat or stroller. She's 2.5 yo.

no lovey here either.
if I had to say he had one it would be his mini hockey stick and ball. he.is.obsessed.

No lovey here either...I guess you could consider A + A blankets her lovey? She does rub them to self soothe. Good thing we have so many!
pomelo / 5678 posts
No. She has a blanket for the car with a badger's face on it I sing a song about when she is in the seat and wants to go to sleep though.
grapefruit / 4085 posts
M doesn't have one either and she's never shown any great attachment to any of her stuffed animals.

No lovey here. He likes his little Elmo doll a lot and we bring it in the car but he doesn't want anything for sleeping.
I brought Elmo for his first day of daycare today and they said he didn't want anything to do with it.

No lovey here, I just didn't know when/how to introduce one! Is 9 months too late?
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
She cries if we try putting anything in the crib with her.
pomelo / 5820 posts
He has an angel dear puppy blanket, but he's not particularly attached to it. He's really not too attached to anything. He really likes certain toys, but he doesn't want any one thing more than another. Except for his binky, I guess!

I tried to introduce them multiple times but she never cared much for them! I am her lovey lol (9 months old)
pineapple / 12566 posts
My son didn't have one until he was 18 months. Now he has a bear, an AA lovey and an AA swaddle. They are mostly for sleeping though.
pomegranate / 3863 posts
No lovey here! He has blanket he sleeps with every night and tries to take with him in the morning but I insist that we leave it in his crib and he is ok with that. He also loves his paci but I wouldn't call that a lovey. We'll see what happens when he gets older!
