The ones that stress me out the most are ones at my house, which aren't many lol, because I'm always so worried about everything being super clean and perfect.
Do parties of any type stress you out?

Yes! I like everything to be sparkling clean before having a bunch of people over. That makes me a bit stressed.

@Leialou: I'll admit, I've often thought it would be great to hire someone to clean just for instances like that, but I worry they won't do things the way I like. Or maybe I'm just crazy.

@Boogs: Yes, I always hire someone to clean beforehand. If they don't do something the way I like it.. I will just go over it. It saves me from having to do it all.

@Reese: That's actually not that bad of an idea because they can't possibly do it all bad that's for sure!

@heartonastring: Any secrets on keeping things stress free for yourself?

No, I love it! I wish we entertained more often. I don't worry much about things looking perfect, though.

No, I love it! We are the default hang out spot for our group of friends (football, game nights etc). I don't worry abt it being perfectly clean and have go to appetizers and dishes to make so I don't have to think too much

We deliberately invite people over on the Saturday after our housecleaner comes over.
We buy dessert or if they offer to bring something, we always suggest dessert. It's one less thing we have to worry about.

I enjoy it but we don't do it often. I don't know that I stress about it but I do spend waaaay more time than I probably should fussing with details (and we aren't talking pinterest worthy dinner parties either!)
We recently started making sure we have the cleaning lady come out right before we have "special" company and while everything isn't always perfect it leaves me with time to worry about the absurd stuff instead of my floors!

If I'm just having people over for food, not really. But if I have to plan a party where I have to worry about decor, entertainment, food, etc. OMG - yes!!!

Yes I get a little anxious, but I love doing it! Once the day arrives I relax and enjoy, but the days leading up I'm a ball of stress and nerves about my house!

Having people over doesn't stress me out but I am stressing about my sons first bday party tomorrow!

Magazine-style perfection cannot be achieved in our little apartment--the chairs will be mismatched if we have more than 2 people over, everyone will have a full view of the mess I make in the kitchen, etc.--so I don't even try. And I'm a lot less stressed as a result. We have friends over regularly and it's always fun. I tend to do things on the casual side (except for the food, because I like doing involved recipes), but I bust out my mismatched-on-purpose china and fancy wine glasses and water goblets and call it good. After a glass or two of wine no one cares anyhow.

I have a love hate relationship haha. I LOVE throwing parties but all the clean up stresses me out a bit.

@Boogs: Being organized is the key! Make as much ahead as you can and have a plan of attack. We also like to have the kitchen completely cleaned up and the dishwasher empty before company arrives - cuts down on the chaos

dh and I love hosting dinner parties (or just having people over for football or whatever), and it used to stress us out but we've figured it out now! a lot of it is prepping early, like making things before that just need to be heated, or prepping before so it's just ready to pop in the oven or whatever. and we divvy the responsibilities up--I usually spend the morning cleaning and setting everything up (if we have more than 6 people for dinner, we need to move furniture around to make our table bigger!) while dh is in the kitchen prepping the food.

I do get stressed but it's a good exciting stressed. If that makes sense! I love dinner parties.

Yep. I hate 'em. I'm the world's biggest introvert...ever. I don't love entertaining or people all up in my...stuff. Hahah. I'm a peach.

@ms.janedoe: Lol you sound more like me. I went a married an extrovert so he loves he loves the stuff.

Not really. I don't care if the house is spotless, and cooking is my forte. I love having people over for dinner! The biggest problem is we took the room we used as a dining room and turned it into a nursery. Now there's not really a good place for a large group to eat.
