Yeah, hopefully the doctor was just stating his medical opinion and not trying to say that you suck -- or else, change doctors!

I am sure I would be pissed if anyone was genuinely criticizing me. That is a big no-no.

@chopsuey119: My husband also disagrees with me with things like that, like he wants LO to nap in her crib. Easy for him to say, he's not here at nap time to deal with her! Honestly, if I felt judged by my doctor I would probably switch. It's important that you're comfortable with them and feel like you can tell them things without being judged.

If another mom was just being critical for the sake of being critical, then yes, I'd be pissed. But if my doctor thought I was doing something that wasn't in my best interest or my baby's best interest I would want them to tell me. In a nice way of course, but I would still want them to tell me. I would try not to be offended by this and instead try to work with the suggestion.

@chopsuey119: yeah, but it was in front of the doctor. that is the part that would irk me. he can disagree with me later at home.

I'm not even pregnant, yet, and I don't like it when I hear criticism. I see if from my SIL, how hard it is to parent nowadays.

I used to criticize my sister but that was years ago when I was young and very naive.

I like having parenting discussions where philosophies are discussed. I don't like when I am told my philosophy is wrong. We did start with one philosophy and our child has definitely taught us a completely different one. I was totally against co-sleeping, nursing a toddler, etc etc etc. Yeah, we cosleep, I am nursing him till he is 2. We are relatively hands off (but we do watch him). I do still criticize other parents. Mostly my sister who doesn't actually watch her kids when she is around. And my friend who treats her 3 year old like he is 1, thinks the doctor is the end all be all. But only when she is complaining

I haven't been criticized directly about my parenting techniques. I have had complete strangers criticize how many children I have. I had someone in the grocery store tell me she hoped my baby machine was turned off. I politely told her that anything that happens with my girly bits and whether or not it is productive was between me and my husband. Go figure, I did have another kid and it was none of her business

I haaaaaaaaaaaaate it when people give unsolicited advice or make comments about how I do things with LO. There is a difference between a) me being unsure about something, SEEKING advice from another mom and being open to suggestions and b) people telling me how to do things.

I was amongst a group of women months ago and I was talking about LO was getting too big for her infant tub. One lady said, 'Oh, you're still using that? You should really get LO into a big tub now.'

Well lady, you should go take a freakin hike? WHO ASKED YOU?

@Oceanis723: Wow. What are people thinking? Why is it her business how many kids you have? Good for you for sticking up for yourself! The worst any stranger ever said to me was that LO was cold. She had a jacket and hat on and a blanket, and she was sleeping peacefully in her stroller. I just walked away.

@chopsuey119: Have you tried toys or bath crayons? I obviously don't have any real advice, as my LO stays put because she doesn't know how to get out. I'm sure if she could, she would.

@chopsuey119: OMG, yeah, LO does that, too! By the time her bath is done, I'm soaked! Bath is a struggle every night because she keeps trying to escape!

@mrbee: Is it annoying to do alone? I have to do bedtime routine alone (hubs gets home after LO goes to bed) and I think about having to dry off, put clothes on, etc.
