yeah, i have potty training on the mind. DD is still happily in her crib and i would really like to not change her crib into the toddler bed for as long as possible. but when we potty train, assuming we can get to being overnight trained at some point, does that mean that we have to give her potty access? or have you had success leaving a kiddo in the crib and them asking to go to the bathroom?
how did it work for you?

Hmmm, my LO is trained and in a bed but before potty training, even if she woke up in the middle of the night, she would stay in it and cry for us, not go to the door.
First thing in the morning, she stays in bed and whines til we open her door and get her.. lol. We just take her to the bathroom and she can actually stay dry all night and wait ~30 mins before needing to pee.
Is your LO dry in the mornings? My thinking is you can train without switching to a toddler bed.

Agree. If she's dry in the morning you may be ok. But if not yes you'd have to loose the crib first.

My DD has been potty trained for almost 2 months and she still sleeps in a crib! I never even thought about her needing to be in a big girl bed to potty train....
If she has to go, she just calls for us and we plop her on the potty. Easy as pie!

We did a toddler bed really early, at 18 months, and potty trained her at 28 months, so I never thought about it. It makes sense though!

LO is potty trained and still in the crib. On the rare occasion she needs to potty at night she calls for us and we take her.

We had transitioned to a toddler bed a few months before potty training. He would get out of bed and go into our room to tell us he needed to use the potty. If he stayed in his crib, he could have easily called out for us. My 3 year old niece is still in her crib and has been potty trained for the past 10 months or so.

We have been potty trained since July and she is still in the crib. We are moving her to a toddler bed for other reasons, but she sleeps in a pull up and typically stays dry overnight. If she needs to pee she will call for us and we will go and get her.

We transitioned to a twin 2-3 months after potty training. I honestly wasn't concerned about night training though...I thought he would still be in night diapers for a long time. But he ended up training himself within about a month of the initial potty training. He would wake up dry every morning. After about three months, and when he was in the twin, we ditched diapers for good. He was right at 2.5 when we potty trained.

@lamariniere: that's good to hear. i was reading a 3-day method that says no diapers afterward at all... and i can't commit to that! i solo parent 3-4 full days a week so changing and washing sheets by myself seems crazy. i'm totally overthinking it like i do with most transitions!

Liam is completely potty trained and still in a crib. You might need to use pull ups at night for a while at first, but that's ok.
