The verdict is still out for me. I've always thought button down shirts were meant to have long sleeves, polos and tees were for warmer weather. What do you think?

I have two words.... Dwight Schrute.
DH has a few, but he wears them under sweaters in the winter

I'm not a fan, although DH does have a couple (literally 2) that I like on him.

My husband wears them, so I guess I like them fine! Some more than others though... He doesn't tuck them in so I try to buy the ones not meant to be tucked. He used to wear polos more but doesn't like them as much.

Nooo. I like long sleeved ones rolled up, but not short sleeves. My dad wears them. Usually with Hawaiian flowers on them...

For work? No!
For play? Yes, DH has a few that are patterned and nhave pockets in the front. The shirts are clearly for going out and show off his muscles nicely.

DH has a couple linen ones I bought for him from Old Navy or somewhere similar....I think he looks pretty good in them But the short sleeve button shirts you'd wear to the office with a tie a la Dwight Schrute? Nope, not a fan!!

Depends on the style. With jeans and the right shoes, they're very 90s skater to me. Sk8r?!

I generally don't like them and think they look dorky. DH usually wears long sleeve shirts with the sleeves rolled up. But he did buy one from Old Navy I thought was ok, it was a very casual plaid button down. I think it's really dorky when it's more of a dress shirt with short sleeves a la Dwight Schrute.

This is the style shirt my DH wears, very casual with jeans/shorts, un tucked, no tie. It looks better on!

DH has one and I'm not the biggest fan of it, but thankfully he doesn't wear it much.

Hehe. DH wears them to work everyday in the summers. He also works in IT. Actually I'm pretty sure he always wore either a short sleeve button down or a long sleeve one rolled up when I first met him. It was part of his look, and I thought he looked cute.

@petunia354: That's how DH wears them too!
He just got this one recently and I actually really like it on him.... I think Old Navy has a good selection short sleeve button ups that are acceptable in my book.

I think my DH has a few and can pull them off, but they aren't my favorite look...

depends. hahah @looch: it screams dorky office guy to me!

@runsyellowlites: agreed, I get a lot of DH's stuff at Old Navy!
GOLD / wonderful coconut / 33402 posts
Nope!! DH would never wear one either. Short sleeves are polo or tshirts. Button ups are always long sleeved and in the summer just rolls them up so they are more like 3/4 sleeves.

I think it depends on the exact style, but typically no. I don't mind polo/golf shirts though.

Yep, DH wears Dickies brand or other punk/skater style button downs with short sleeves and they look great on him!

@yin: I think your husband is pulling that look off! I do think it looks better with patterned shirts instead of solids.

I rewatched Dawson's Creek on netflix last summer so that's all I can think of: http://a.abcnews.com/images/Entertainment/gty_dawsons_creek_cast_lpl_120716_wb.jpg

Not a fan. I love the look of long-sleeve button down with sleeves rolled up. The worst is short-sleeve button down with a tie!!

Hate them on grown men, remind me of Dwight on the Office! Wear a polo

It depends on the style. DH has some pretty classy ones that I can get behind. But I don't like the ones that are just a regular business button down shirt with the sleeves lobbed off.

DH is going to be pleased that the Bees approve of his wardrobe!

DH has a few that are various colors of plaid. I like them!
eggplant / 11716 posts
I like them, when they are slim-fit and worn untucked with slim jeans. I don't like them when they are boxy or baggy and/or worn untucked.
Three "good" examples and one "bad" example.

@petunia354: I'm a fan! My DH has a few of these as well, and I think he looks good in them!
The Dwight Schrute kind? No...I don't like them.
