Mine doesn't. He is basically my boss for HR related stuff (vacation and sick time approval). His boss is who I go to with questions, meet with 1-2 times a month on my departments.

nope - all he cares about is that my work is getting done and my customer is happy

He likes to pretend he's in the "know" and then will spout out all these impossible requests when he gets bored. And then we have to bring him back down to reality.

Yes, we are both educated in the same field and create work for one another.

In general, yes. He knows what program I'm working on and generically what I'm doing (he does my performance reviews which have my objectives). But I don't interact with him on a day-to-day basis and I go to someone else for my work.

Sometimes- she isn't around often! I work in a small office and I am the only full time employee so I spend a lot of time by myself! I get to work in the morning and no one else comes in till late afternoon!

Yes, we meet once a month and there are some projects i work on that require her involvement/input. She also has access to my calendar so she's even aware of my meetings.

He knows the overall picture (writing, putting together graphics, etc.) but if I asked him to do some of the technical things he'd be stumped. Which is half funny and half annoying when he asks people, "why didn't you just do ___?" and they're like, "uhhh because it doesnt work that way..."

They are so utterly clueless that I had to demand a meeting with my boss AND her boss a few weeks ago. I had to show them "THIS" is how I've been doing things for 2 years +, can we please all get on the same page???!

We're a team, so she knows what I do and I know what she does.

Yes, we have weekly 1:1's so I'm regularly updating her on my projects.

My boss is pretty out of touch with what goes on in our office, including with what I do. He does, however, write my performance reviews, which is disconcerting.

@Smurfette: I honestly don't like going to the dentist either. I hate the feeling of my mouth being so dry with the suction. It's awful!

I'm not exactly sure who my boss is. (I'm a college professor.) If it's my department chair, then yes, he mostly knows what I do. If it's the dean, then he only vaguely knows that I teach and do research. He probably knows some of the specifics, but is not intimately familiar with them.

Mostly, but there are some things that he is unfamiliar with.

Yes, we're a team. I'm faster than he is so I do most of the work
