We were at the pool last night and noticed that even though there were a bunch of kids in the pool playing next to us, our daughter preferred to keep playing with us. She watched them for a while but then turned around and asked us to go into the deep end. I figure as she gets older, she will be more inclined to play with other kids, playing marco polo and diving games.

LO prefers to play with me unless he is surrounded my his classmates or cousins. Last week at the pool his friend was there, and he still preferred hanging out with me. He was shy because his friend brought a new friend to the pool, and he wasn't ready to play with new kids.

LO prefers to play with us. I SAH and he is our only so that probably has something to do with it. I also think he is just shy. He likes seeing other kids, just wants mama close by!

Unless she knows the other kids, me. Even when she knows other kids, I still get a lot of "come on mama, play with us."

DD is 28 months and it's a pretty even split between us, herself and other kids, with other kids probably being slightly less.

My oldest has always been social since the moment she was born.
My 2nd prefers playing with someone in her family.

He loves to play with other kids (turned 4 at the end of March). He can be a little shy at first, but then will join right in once he is comfortable. I've actually noticed lately the shyness is wearing off. It doesn't take as long for him to warm up.

The other kids, every time. She marches up to them and demands "play with me!" or makes some bizarre ice breaker comment like "I've got pink shoes". I've noticed that other kids her age shy away from her at first.

Usually other kids and she will just run up and start talking or playing with them. Today we were at the park and she kept trying to play with a little girl who kept running back to her mom and away from my LO.

Me, unless she knows the other kids. She likes to sort of be around other kids at the playground but not engage with them.
