While going through the catalogs last night, my LO kept saying, "this is a boys toy, oh more boys toys." It's pretty obvious that the catalog is focused on girls toys, then boys toys, with a few gender neutrals mixed in. Does your child talk about boy vs girl toys or even clothes?

My kids have had the same reaction when looking at catalogs. I think it must be influenced by kids at school/daycare because DH and I never talk about toys/colors/clothes being for specific genders.

A few times but we tell them boys and girls can play with the same toys.

She sometimes makes statements like "boys don't wear dresses" and will ask if boys can wear dresses, jewelry, etc. I tend to just say yes, sometimes they do. The subject of toys really hasn't come up though.

Yes, lately he's been making "those are boy/girl toys" comments. Like last week he said he can't have any girls from preschool over for a playdate since he doesn't have girl toys. Had to remind him girls play with trains, Paw Patrol, his kitchen stuff, trucks, puzzles, etc, etc... It's crazy how they get the ideas of gender stuff so young, especially since my husband and I try to stay pretty neutral with toys.

Yes, he was looking at a catalogue the other night and kept talking about the boy toys and girl toys.
It is weird how they pick up on these things without being told.

Thankfully, never. She thinks everyone plays with the same toys. I have preschool/daycare to thank for that!

My LO picked it up from relatives. When I've told them all toys are toys and they are for everyone, I got some big eyes from them and their parents.

The only thing he has mentioned so far is not wanting to go into the women's restroom with me because it is for girls. I have no idea where he picked that up. 🙄 He's 4, so he can just deal with it for a while, ha.
