How old is your child and do they wipe their own butt? Just interested since DS just turned 4 and I'm going to try and get him to start helping this summer. They'll still wipe in VPK next year, but I know they really try to get them to start handling it since they don't wipe in Kindergarten. I'm trying to figure out the best way to teach him. We already used flushable wipes.

They don't wipe for them in his class now (3 year olds) and sometimes he doesn't do the best job!

My son is 4.5 and just recently has wanted to wipe independently which is great but he hasn't quite mastered doing a good job so we always have to check him and usually end up having to wipe more thoroughly.

Her teachers in her 3s class still wipe for poop. But she's 4 and we are trying to get her to wipe her own butt more because they don't when she goes to pre-k in the fall.

I tried to teach him, but he prefers for me to wipe at 5. He just avoids pooping at school.

They only help with poop and same at home. We only help with poop. Sometimes she will do it herself but I don't always trust her to do a good job and not go back to front!

She is 2.5 (only uses potty when naked so not really trained) and wipes herself. I think she does a fine job with pee but I have to wipe her afterwards with poop. But it's just something she started on her own.

DD will be turning 4 soon and has been really proud about wiping herself at school. As much as I'm happy to see that she's independent, it freaks me out a little, so we try to help her out at home (whenever she lets us). She can be really adamant about doing it by herself and whenever that happens, I talk her into a having a bath right after.

Well it's good to know my child isn't behind in the poop-wiping department. I was worried everyone's kids were like wiping experts already.
I still struggle with letting him do things for himself since he's totally cool with me doing everything, but I'm trying harder lately to encourage independence on things like personal hygiene. But the thought of him not wiping well gives me the heaves.

My 5 year old does, he really started at maybe 4.5? For the longest time he didn't want to, but we finally won.
