Around 4:45/5pm, our daycare merges rooms when a lot of kids have already gone home and they can let a couple of teachers go home.

Yes, beginning of the day (before 8am) and end of the day (after 5pm).

Yep. The toddler room and nursery get joined. I think the kids all have a blast doing that.

Yup! LO 2 likes hanging out with the older kids.

Yep. D is the only baby after a certain time so they bring him into the toddler room, where big brother is super excited to see him and the toddler girls want to be all over him too, haha.

Yes. I really hate when they combine too many classrooms though because it gets so chaotic and there are some bigger kids that play really rough.

Yes. I don't really like it, but my daughter does because she likes to hang out with the babies.

Sometimes. But almost always when I drop off in the AM.

Yep, 1s and 2s get combined at beginning and end of day. DSs love it because they miss their 1s teacher.

Yes, although they only combine within age groups (infants get combined, toddlers get combined, etc)

A lot of times they do. I like it because it's given DD and myself a chance to get to know the teachers and kids she will be with when she transitions. One of her regular teachers is always still there though. They do it less when they have younger babies in the infant room who aren't mobile yet.

Our daycare is a church-based preschool. The core program is 9am-3pm. 7am-8:55am is "before care" and 3:05-5pm is "after care." They combine rooms for both of those.

For about the first hour or so in the morning and the last hourish of the afternoon they combine. It depends how many of what age on how they combine.
When I drop off DS spends about 20 min with the "big kids". He loves this so much and they are all so excited to see him in the morning. He hates having to go to the baby room though.

Usually. That said, most of the little ones don't stay the full day, so it's usually just the big kids at the end of the day anyway. When weather permits, they go to the park all together at the end of the day.

Yes two groups are combined before 8:45am and three groups are combined after 5pm

@daniellemybelle: Ours is the same. Also church based and combined in the early am and after 4 or so.

Only within the same age group - there are 2 pre school classes so they will combine and the 2 pre-k classes will combine - the younger kids only combine the last 30 mins

mine does from time to time, depending on how many kids there are. i actually complained the other day that they combined the toddlers with the preschool age kids.. they only had 2 teachers in the room and the bigger kids were running and rough housing and my son was just sobbing in a corner - not a fan. they said from now on, they'll only combine for each age group.

Sometimes. I don't mind, but I prefer when the 2s come into the 1s room because some of the toys for the older kids aren't appropriate for the littler ones, IMO.

There are multiple 2s rooms at DS's daycare, so they combine before 8 and after 5. I try very hard to pick DS up before 5 because he is reluctant to leave the fun new kids and toys in the combined room. By reluctant I mean I have to drag him to the car...
