I'm posing this question because I caught DH turning on the heater in our bedroom last night, and it is only fall! BUT.......he refuses to wear more clothing to bed instead. He wears only a t-shirt and his boxers. I think he would be warmer if he wore more clothing so we don't have to turn on the heater just yet! Heating is expensive around here! It would also make it slightly easier to get out of bed in the morning too, I think! So, what do you and your DH do? Or do you get to have the heat on all the time in the winter? Lucky! =P

I'm the one who used to be responsible for turning up the heater in our house. I know it costs a little more, but I get so restless if I'm twisted up in pajamas that it ruins my sleep. So I get where he's coming from.
Maybe buy a mattress pad heater for a gift? They usually have dual controls, so he can just warm up his side of the bed and keep the thermostat down. Here I thought DH was just being a sweetheart with that gift, but no, he had ulterior motives. Smart, sneaky man!

My husband only ever wears boxers to bed (but we live in Australia, so take that with a grain of salt!!!). Just to give you some food for thought, the less he wears to bed the warmer he should actually be. If you use a comforter or blanket which i'm assuming you do, his naked skin will heat the air between him and the blanket faster than clothed skin. So if he can bear the first few cold seconds, he will actually be warmer in boxers or nothing than in full pyjamas. And I've also heard that sleeping in the coldest room you can stand is healthier than sleeping in a heated room. My dad told me this as he forbade us from EVER turning the thermostat above 14 degrees celcius at night in the dead of winter in Ottawa! But it worked for us, we barely ever got sick as kids!

His boxers all year long, I think if he gets super cold though (we have an old house) he sleeps in a little more, but that's rare.

He wears just underwear all year. But he just puts another blanket on the bed if he gets cold. We're trying to wait as long as possible before we turn on the heater!

Only boxers year-round. If he does start off with a t-shirt for some reason, he ends up taking it off in the middle of the night.

Yup! He is only comfortable in just his boxers. He had to wear a tshirt for a couple of nights last week because he got a new tattoo on his arm and had to keep it covered when he slept. He HATED it.
But I like only sleeping in a tank top and undies. You're much less constricted and don't have clothes getting all bunched underneath you. Sometimes during the winter I slip on a pair of loose pj pants, but being pregnant this winter I doubt I will do that.

If I'm lucky, he keeps his underwear on or puts on basketball shorts. We have a wood stove and he used to get up in the middle of the night to stoke it, in the buff. LOL. Doesn't sound very safe to me. But anyways, I've kinda been on his case to at least stick with undies since the kids are getting older and sometimes still come climb in bed with us.

He sleeps in boxers and a tshirt in the winter, and just boxers in the summer. He's pretty warm and doesn't notice the cold.

I never really thought about it but DH wears the same thing to bed all year long - a t-shirt and boxers.
Good point about the heat though - if he's ready to turn on the heat he should bundle up!

@ScarletBegonia: Second this. This is totally true. Sleeping in less clothing actually makes you warmer, though the first few seconds are uncomfortable. You could try turning on a space heater for a minute or so before you go to bed so the area around the bed feels warmer. (Don't forget to turn it off before you get in bed!)

Completely nakie, no matter the season. The only time I've ever seen him wear anything to bed (besides his underwear when we were first dating) was this summer when we went camping and it was +3 degrees celsius outside. Cold enough to be fully clothed.

Boxers/undershirt or naked but we have an electric blanket with dual controls so he just turns up his side. Unfortunately his side seems to also heat my side since the blanket is King size and our bed is only a queen.

DH only wears his boxers to sleep at night. Although he's a furnace! He gives off sooo much heat! We only have our heat set to 65, and a lot of times in the middle of the night I even have to take off the blankets because it's so hot from him! lol!

He's naked all the time, and he teases me for wearing any clothing.
We have a down comforter, so it gets pretty toasty pretty fast, and we both prefer it to be cool for sleeping.

@cranberryapple: My DH has the fan on pretty much year-round, so I have to either wear more clothes or put a pillow between us to block the breeze. We live in a temperate climate, where it can get cold, too.

We have our heat set on a timer, it kicks on about 45 minutes before we get up in the morning, it makes all the difference.
I feel funny talking about how my husband sleeps, lol.

Boxers! I actually prefer less while sleeping as well, tank top and cotton panties are the best. But I do end up in pj pants when winter comes around...
