I tell him exactly how much I spend, besides we have a joint account so he would see it if he looked anyways.

He doesn't ask but joint accounts as well!

I do it too Banana! Not about everything, but I tend to round down when it's sort of extravagant girly stuff that he wouldn't understand!

We have a joint account and he takes care of my credit card bills. I'm not a big shopper anyway. I'm way thriftier than he is- he has to encourage me to buy new clothes when I need them. Not because I don't want them, but we're trying to save money.

i usually stash everything away in my closet before he gets home so he doesn't ask! but he does keep track of my credit card expenses, and sometimes asks me about my bigger purchases.

I do my personal shopping out of my own account. He doesn't ask, I don't tell. But he has more expensive tastes than I do, so I don't think he'd care.

I don't really buy any big ticket items anymore - at least not for myself. And I try to never buy things at full price. Somehow, the fact that something is discounted always sounds better. DH is actually more of a spender than I am.

Yup, because he set up our accounts so that we get a text notification when our debit or credit cards are charged. I have nothing to hide, so he literally knows if I just spent money at the grocery store.

i usually leave my receipts around accidentally, but if he asks, i usually fib a little =)

We have a joint checking, but when I get home I usually downplay after a big shopping trip, kind of an inside joke since he always looks and sees the real amount. My famous line "but you will not believe the deal I got"

Nope, he doesn't usually ask either, but I don't spend on myself very often anymore I miss my shopping sprees and mani's!!!
He is very loose with his money, he'd tell you he's cheap though (he'd be lying!)

I emphasize how much money I have SAVED by purchasing something on sale....lol. Then I'll go on to say how much the regular price is versus the price I've just paid for the item.

It's to my advantage to be upfront about what I spend since we have 100% joint accounts and he handles all the finances. I'm responsible for buying all of our clothes, but I'll always give him a heads up before making a purchase just so he has a chance to tell me to hold off until the end of our billing cycle.

DH is actually a lot less thrifty than I am which we discovered shortly after getting married. He was worried that I would be the one who spent like a drunken sailor, but after a couple of months we realized that I actually save us a ton of money while he is the one who is more inclined to impulse purchase and not wait for sales. So because of that we both agree it's better for me to be the one making purchases anyway, lol!

Haha. @Mrs. Bee: Mr. Marbles always tells me, "You know what's the best deal? Not buying it at all." He's a saver and I'm a spender. I definitely downplay and round down when possible. Or I emphasize what a great deal it was... i.e. buying m Orla Kiely goodies from Uniqlo instead of the Orla Kiely boutique.

We have joint finances, so there's no hiding anything. I don't feel the need to downplay purchases because he trusts that I wouldn't be buying it if I didn't think it was worth the purchase price.

He normally doesn't ask. We never buy anything over $100 without checking with the other first.
